A thread on my exchange with Jonathan Blow and why I ended up telling him to fuck off Empathy and charitability is so important in communication, and nothing pisses me off as much as someone being condescending and dismissive

The worst part is that it's a self-perpetuating negative spiral. Someone being a condescending jerk toward me, means that I drop my charitability toward them as well as a last resort, because being charitable toward them when they're not, is just not an equal playing field

I work *really hard* to stay charitable and kind, I think it's really important, even toward people I heavily disagree with but sometimes I slip, and can't hold on to it anymore :(

@FreyaHolmer I had to come read this after seeing your last talk. Hi

@MaximeEuziere ahah you found it!! good

@FreyaHolmer I am currently publishing a game on google play where all movements are made with lerp (small imperfections in the movement are rounded and the result is acceptable. lerp is very useful and simple to implement .. @FreyaHolmer dont be upset with suckers who like to spit out rules.

@_jellyroger oh wow that sounds like a *fake game* for *uneducated people* poor players suffering from the horror of lerp smoothing i only make games with nasa levels of numerical accuracy, otherwise it's objectively a bad game coded by irresponsible humans

@FreyaHolmer This is really sad - the sense of superiority made my physically cringe.

@FreyaHolmer Learned supplemental stuff through this exchange, shame it then went downhill a bit People do see things, relate and communicate differently I think its important to cultivate detachment and "lets agree to disagree" attitude, that has often helped me keep emotions stable

@FreyaHolmer You have amazing patience and my respect. He clearly showed no empathy or remorse and tripled down on the pettiest shit I've seen a programmer argue about. Lerp dt is not useful? :Rolls eyes off the table: You're great Freya keep doin what you doin we all love you.

@FreyaHolmer Eeek. Wonder if he was talking about this kind of thing? https://mobile.twitter.com/dav... 🤷🏻‍♂️

@FreyaHolmer I'm quite impressed by what you deliver, but on this one I'm amazed by your patience. Please continue your work, it is very helpful.

@FreyaHolmer Wow, dude just wanted to show off how smart and superior he is

@FreyaHolmer I’m reminded of an idea (I try to remember this but it is really hard sometimes): “What other people think about you is none of your business.”

@FreyaHolmer Wait, a user actually got upset because you used a lerp() function in a game?? How did they even figure you used it? That's weird, but to each their own I guess. They can miss out on the product.
