I’m an Astros fan. To understand the scope of the Astros cheating & the players involved, I logged every trashcan bang from every Astros 2017 home game w/ video available. Over 8,200 pitches watched and over 1,100 trashcan bangs found. The results are at http://signstealingscandal.com...

@adams_at Can I use all this information for a Graduate Paper of ethics and the effects of social mood in society?
@JoshV__ Sure. Let me know if you need anything.
@adams_at So for all those games where you heard banging, Opponents won 29 games, Astros won 27 games. Must be a very effective strategy. Assuming you are correct with all that you heard, it doesn't seem to help them much as they lose more games with it.
@palanggana2000 There are some independent analyses of the data on the site. https://signstealingscandal.co...
@adams_at so you logged all loud noises before a pitch that you think were trash can bangs and concluded that they are? And no other teams did this?
@palanggana2000 If I thought it could be a trash can bang, I logged it. You can go to the site & listen to any pitch & see a spectrogram. I’ve investigated other teams, but found no evidence they were using audible signals to steal signs. That doesn't mean they weren’t. #ab_34 class="text-blue-500 hover:underline" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">https://signstealingscandal.co...
@adams_at So they only cheated a little bit?
@SaraGEuler What?
@adams_at Stop trying to justify it .... they should be kicked from the league .
@StephenKing780 LOL! There wouldn't be a league left if they started that.
@adams_at Way to bang this out
@adams_at This is great & surprising work, Tony!
@adams_at 🤔🤔🤔
@adams_at Didn’t have a chance to look through all this yet but how does the fact that a “non bang” signifying a pitch type factor into all of this?
@adams_at I don't know if anyone told you already, but you did a bang up job on this research. But unfortunately MLB wants to toss it in a trashcan.
@adams_at Labor, meet intensive, and both of you say hi to maniacally obsessive.
@adams_at So 13% of home pitches were banged. You need to double that (at least) to account for non-banging signaling a fastball. That puts it at 26-28% of home games. Then divide that in half because there were no bangs on the road. Roughly 14% of pitches that regular season were sent.
@adams_at Hey man, nice job
@adams_at This is incredible
@adams_at Aug 2 seems like a strange omission. I’d be VERY interested in that one. Weird nothing is available 🤷🏻♂️
