1rt= 1 ray peat insight Since @LandsharkRides asked nicely I will be explaining some points in this meme + some extra ones that come to mind Ive got a cup of coffee and fresh panfried liver so let's go.
1. This one I will give for free. PUFAs or poly unsaturated fatty acids are often touted for their essentially for good health and development, but firstly the study that "discovered" them as essential in the 1930 merely discovered that they suppress metabolic rate
They fed rats an almost fat free diet, and after a while they developed a rash/flaky skin condition, when linolenic was introduced into their diet again this disappeared. They had found a new essential nutrient! Wrong. They had induced an vitamin B6 deficiency by restricting
The Polyunsaturated fats. The "essential fatty acid deficient" rats consumed oxygen at a very high rate and had warmer body temperatures. Their metabolic rates had increased and with it, their nutritional needs, as it were shown in a later study, reproducing the burrs experiment.
Cured the dermatitis with vitamin B6.
2. Sugar (sucrose) is preferable to starch as a carbohydrate source, because it is easily digested, quickly absorbed (so does not feed bacteria) but has a lower overall Glycemic index as something like pure glucose. The fructose helps absorb calcium in the intestine
(acts like vit d3) and restores liver glycogen better than pure glucose. It boosts overall metabolic rate by 20%
3. Ray's Carrot salad, which has become quite popular Is an easy way to improve intestinal health by doing it daily. The raw carrot fibers stimulates the intestine, soaks up endotoxin and waste products excreted in the bile, if you make it with coconut oil and vinegar
It it has an anti-Semitic effect working like and antibiotic on the gut. The absence of daily endotoxin, estrogen and serotonin load can make a very big difference in your life, here is a good thread on making it from solbrah https://x.com/SolBrah/status/1...
Whoops my phone is Israeli I meant *antiseptic*
4. Ruminant meat is preferable to chicken and pork in the context of a modern setting. The rumen has bacteria that saturates PUFA so you have way less overall in the end product. A pig or chicken (or human) will reflect almost directly the amount of PUFA they eat in their
Tissues. So a cow or goat will, even when grain fed, have more saturated fat than a pig. Lard is traditionally seen as a saturated fat, but nowadays it's about 50% PUFA. Unless you know what the pigs of chickens are fed id just avoid it all together.
5. the most basic thing keeping you alive is energy, your thyroid function controls how much you produce, therefore it is essential for higher functions. There is many reasons for a lowered metabolic rate (IE hypothyroidism) PUFA and stress being the main ones.
at least 90% of people today would benefit from a thyroid supplement. Not only is everyone sicker overall, but the thyroid gland itself has been taken out of the food supply. soup from the neck and head of animals is trad and you should try to incorporate. https://x.com/Bronze_spirit/st...
6. calcium to phosphate ratio. This is one reason why eating too much muscle meat or nuts is bad, the high phosphate content. Also why dairy is highly recommended. too much phosphate stimulates parathyroid hormone and increases tissue proliferation, like estrogen.
The 2 liter of milk and 1 liter of orange juice is a very good foundation for nutrition and ray has recomended it for people with digestive problems for a while, good sugars in the form of sucrose and lactose, most b vitamins vit C,A,E potassium calcium. https://x.com/takeoffsoros/sta...
7. refined coconut oil is practically free from any PUFA and has a high content of medium chain triglycerides, which can be used for energy even more efficiently than sugar. It has, like vitamin E, and anti-estrogenic effect and and anti-oxidative effect because of its saturation
As BAP has mentioned, when eating a fast food meal or something you know has PUFA, you can have a teaspoon of coconut oil with it and it will somewhat protect it from being oxidized.
8. while it is almost common knowledge that serotonin is a "happy whoremoan", it is actually a hormone of stress, agression, and hibernation. ~80% is produced in the gut from tryptophan (another reason not to overdo muscle meat in relation to gelatin/glycine)
when you are low on blood sugar and start using protein to make glucose, gluconeogenesis, high cortisol, overtraining, ect. it releases the amino acid profile of the tissue you are breaking down. eating a lot of muscle meat mimics this, and serotonin is one of the signals of this
Caloric restriction extends lifespan, but so does methionine, tryptophan and cysteine restriction, (and ofc PUFA restriction) without restricting calories. This is why gelatin is recommended as a main protein source and why glycine extends lifespan.
9. salt or sodium is the master electrolyte, when you have enough salt you don't excrete too much of you potassium, magnesium and calcium, it lowers aldosterone which controls blood pressure, low salt diets not recommended
10. a good quality ice cream (without emulsifiers!) can be very therapeutic, especially before bed, slow release of sugar through the night because of the fat, and has some of the fat soluble vitamins, calcium.
11. x-rays and many other forms of radiation/inappropriate excitation make the cell take up water and proliferate, the same effect as estrogen. It turns your cell metabolism to a yeastlike state, simplified and wasteful. This state produces lactic acid through glycolysis instead
of co2 through oxidative metabolism. Through the warburg effect, this makes a downward spiral of oxygen wasting. This is the state of cancer, diabetes, death. BAP understands this as mere life.
12. CAWFEE Caffeine is not a drug per say, it is an adaptogen. it increases metabolism, lowers free fatty acids, but has to be used in context, don't just dump a jug of black down your gullet lmao, have it with milk and sugar so it doesn't drop your blood sugar too fast.
coffee contains some good b vitamins also, good source of magnesium and some antioxidants from the coffee bean. Helps lower iron absorption, good when eating a steak or liver. Coffee is much better that pure caffeine, even decaf is good.
caffeine in itself is antiseptic, the effect of a coffee enema is sterilising your colon, lowering endotoxin load produced by bacteria and getting the benefits of coffee at the same time.
13. High altitude living can have benefits even some time after you have descended, the increase in adaptive hormones and carbon dioxide retention has systemic effects, lowering overall stress and mortality, increasing bone density. It is mainly through lower oxygen
but even radiation is less of a problem, the high energy cosmic rays coming from space, loose some of their energy as they pass through the atmosphere and become damaging, so the less atmosphere passed the more likely they are to pass through you. Zarathustra vindicated again
14. concentric exercise not only improves mitochondrial function, it makes new ones. i have recently tried to implement this in my training with big success, oly lifts are almost made for this as are some stongman lifts. Jumping down from the top of a pullup or dip. Zero soreness
