How to make it in poker these days: 1. Don't do it 2. If you ignore point 1, seek the right guidance/mentor 3. Play micros/low stakes for practice, not BR building 4. Earn yourself a BR with your day job and hop into mid stakes when you/your mentor thinks you're ready

@crackLiNg1 @PhilGalfond solid addition hehe

@thevenividi1993 With the state of high-stakes poker in summer, I expect you to drop more wisdom on Twitter. Coz' that's what's happening while we Tweet :D

@RunchuksP The waiting game hehe

@thevenividi1993 Would tend to agree with first point. But then again ppl have been saying this for like past 10 years, including when I started ~6 years ago.

@SUPERMAKEFIN Same same. I've been saying there's 2 years left for the last 8 years

@thevenividi1993 Odds of seeing a rematch between @thevenividi1993 and @PhilGalfond but in NLH this time?

@_Weyson @PhilGalfond I'm game, but it think it'll be a while before Phil finishes his other battles

@thevenividi1993 You appearing on Twitter + posting this appears that you have at least mild interest in being said mentor. How many have asked you so far?

@DailySportsGeek Not that many actually. + Someone would have to tick many boxes for me to consider coaching/mentoring them. I think 2+2 would be a better place to search for potential horses so that's not necessarily the reason I started twitter

@thevenividi1993 would you mind answering which process of studying you took to gain that level of mastery... what books/courses/training sites/players you consumed knowledge from

@coolmusicguy88 In general most poker books are obsolete as soon as they are published and most coaches on training sites don't share all the information they have. Find someone that has incentive to make you as good as a poker player possible (eg. good poker player that back you financially)

@VdaraPete probably the most important one

@thevenividi1993 Is pio a good enough mentor to make it at mid stakes by yourself?

@malini133 I haven’t worked with Pio much, but will probably help a lot if you find someone that can guide you a bit. “Finding equilibrium” has amazing free content on YouTube, I suggest that you check it out

@thevenividi1993 Why don't do it ?

@antimatron Online poker is declining and it's extremely tough to reach the nosebleeds if you start out now. If you are talented enough to make it in the poker world, it's probably best to utilize this skillset in another professional field

@thevenividi1993 What would you recommend to someone if they are already playing mid/high stakes online? Would it be better off going all in or getting a job and playing on the side? What would be a way to find guidance and mentors?

@AlanMcpham If you are having decent results in $EV I'd suggest go for it if you have enough money to sustain yourself for a month or 6 or have parents to fall back on. Reach out to high level guys and send them your resume (HEM results) or look on 2+2 for a coach/backer

@thevenividi1993 Thanks for this advice. What do you think of shirt deck?

@pokeroo3 Don't know enough about it:(

@thevenividi1993 Did you ever play NLHE? If so why did you switch?

@Wardy_Poker I started off with NLHE, but when I played a bit of PLO it seemed more fun and I was naturally better at it

@thevenividi1993 How are you supposed to be able to beat midstakes if you can’t even build a BR at micro?

@thevenividi1993 Underlooked statistic would be the GDP factor - If you are living in ukraine where the gdp per capita is 2.6k year go for it, Switzerland - dont go for it.

@thevenividi1993 You forgot one: 5. Sign an a affiliate deal with a poker platform and/or coaching site whereby you leverage your winning status and attract new (losing)players into the ecosystem.

@thevenividi1993 5. Play on a poker site where the rake doesn't kill you 👌
