Elder Holland’s talk mentioned how wonderful it is that BYUtv has reached so many people. It’s a lie. Viewership has floated around 20k households for years despite millions of dollars in development and advertising. The one success they ever had was the original Studio C. 🧵

They like to say they are in 50 million households, as if that meant people actually watched it. Instead, I’ve watched dozens and dozens of people get abused inside a toxic work environment to the point where they had to quit for their own mental health. That’s why I quit. 2/

I’ve seen it over and over again. It’s a pattern. It’s a problem. And it affects women and minorities most of all. In one instance, a very talented and affable contractor lost his contract because his hair came to his shoulder. He was filming behind the scenes footage. 3/

Meanwhile, they were serving coffee on the set of Granite Flats. The hypocrisy was unreal. You’d think when all ten cast members of the only show on BYUtv all quit in unison, someone would come asking questions. We requested a meeting with upper management to talk things out. 4/

We never had that meeting. They were uninterested in us and instead started peddling this idea that they ā€œhad the formulaā€ to continue without us. I don’t know what they told the GAs, but it for sure wasn’t the truth because they never heard it from us. I expected someone to… 5/

Come around, maybe a general authority who thought something felt suspicious and wanted to get the real story. Nope. Never happened. Instead, we kept getting word that certain managers at the network were badmouthing us to everyone who would listen. And as for the new cast… 6/

I met them all. I liked them all. I watched them all suffer inside a toxic workplace that nearly broke everyone at the show. (But that’s not my story, so I won’t tell it.) So, @Ch_JesusChrist, you’ve been deceived. If by their fruits he shall know them, maybe take a look at 7/

How the people who work at or have worked at BYUTV really feel. Look at how much money you’re spending and seeing no real success. The network has so much potential—and it isn’t living up to any of it. Instead, it is hurting people, but they stay for the paycheck until they 8/

Can’t bear it anymore. Do something about it! It’s long overdue. /🧵

@theadamberg I worked just one season on the show and it was one of the most difficult work environments I’ve ever been in. Made me question my career path and if I was cut out for this industry, my mental health took a huge toll...and I was only there for a year

@theadamberg I currently work with a production company that does the post work for the newest seasons of Studio C, I’d be very interested in chatting with you and seeing if this is a company I should no longer be a part of.

@briennamyers Studio C wasn’t at kaleidoscope when I was there. So I don’t have much personal experience. But I know people who do. DM me.

@theadamberg Studio C wasn’t what I thought it would be according to friends so I didn’t watch any BYUtv until recently. There are plenty of people who work for church entities that love working there. Maybe, just maybe, you’re conflating a situation to gain points.

@Mothersdream Shame on you! How dare you respond to an abusive situation that you know nothing about and attack the victim.

@theadamberg Someone is triggered.

@therealjefffy Yes. Trauma does that to a person.

@theadamberg I love BYUtv. I have family all over the US who have it on either background or foreground all day. It's the go-to station of all members in my mission country. &multiple clients have seen significant lift with BYUtv. Is this is about OG StudioC vs new? If so, I'll give you that.

@GivemHekBrigham This is about actual numbers. I know some people watch it—the numbers always floated around 20k. And I’m not saying people shouldn’t watch it, just that their efforts outside of OG Studio C have not grown beyond that.

@theadamberg I honestly haven’t watched the show since the OG cast left. Honestly Hadnt really watched anything over than Studio C. I tried giving a couple of shows a chance but it all just fell flat

@Gerald_Max14 Same ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

@theadamberg Who are you?

@theadamberg @calvinjburke I hate seeing more and more confirmations that working for the church directly or one of its subsidiaries is an extremely toxic and non productive environment, but the stories just keep coming out. I think this is just a really big conversation not enough people are having.

@theadamberg Studio C is literally the only reason I ever watched the BYU channel. I also know a non lds member who is a big fan and even has the theme song as his ringtone. I wish everyone (members and nonmembers) would be as accepting as you and the rest of JK Studios.

@theadamberg Bro mad respect for this. It takes guts to speak out against abuse in tbr workplace and I am so, so proud of you.

@theadamberg the original Studio C was something my family and I bonded over for as many years as you guys stayed. Thank you for making content that we needed to laugh! I'm so sorry this happened and I stand by you and the rest of the cast <3

@theadamberg Studio C is not the same without the OG cast. My kids still watch it but I don't.

@theadamberg You are such a bitter has been. Your pettiness and anger is going to make you unhappy the rest of your life.

@theadamberg I thought this was a joke at first. Then I saw the rest of the garbage. Yikes bro.

@theadamberg Wow I really didn't know all this stuff, thanks for informing me.

@theadamberg Sorry you had to be part of a toxic work environment. Hopefully things change there. I know what it's like to have your mental health impacted by a bad workplace and it is draining.

@theadamberg I like how this needed a thread.
