For the record, I think AI can be a useful tool for artists. The issue I have at hand is someone straight up taking full credit and in this case not properly informing the judges what Midjourney is. Going forward AI art should have it's own category.

@GenelJumalon I consider this AI to be an art form because it requires complex instructions like a poet, novelist, or playwright to explain a complex situation and give instructions, and it still requires many trial and errors like a glassblower to create the desired picture.

@GenelJumalon I'm an artist who dislikes AI-generated art (as it now exists, anyway). However... this guy's AI is much better than human "modern art" / "conceptual art", though, isn't it? That's the real reason why people are using AI, instead of hiring human artists who can't draw or paint.

@GenelJumalon So out of curiosity (on top of wanting to contact the people that held the contest), I looked up the competition Théåtre D'opéra Spatial was a submission for the Digital Arts/Digitally Manipulated Photography category of the competition

@GenelJumalon I don’t see a problem with this. Not sure how this is that different from photography. Person spent weeks refining the input, and then combed through hundreds of options to arrive at the “best” ones. That requires subjective art experience. It’s not like the AI did it on its own.
