One of the biggest mistakes in FB ad accounts is >NOT using post ID It's an easy fix & can lower your CPA drastically Some people don't know how to use it, some don't want to cause it disables asset customization But there's a way to combine post-ID and asset customization
Using post ID enables you to gather all the social proof on the unique identifier, which makes your ads way more powerful Using asset customization enables you to have one format shown on the feed, other on the story, making the ad look native to placement Let's combine that:
I suggest always having 1 Ad Builder Campaign That's a campaign that is always turned OFF, you just create all your ads there It's easier to do iterations when you have an original ad stored in the builder campaign But let's get to post ID process
When creating the ad, DON'T add any additional format initially You want to select only 1 format Usually > 1:1 for images > 4:5 for videos After you created the ad and published it Go to: 1. Preview 2. Share 3. Facebook post with the comments
You'll get a link that looks like this: > facebook. com/[pageID]/posts/[postID] You want to copy the post ID and store it somewhere near the name of your "original" ad You can do it in the > Ad builder, in the ad name > In a sheet with all your names and post IDs
The next step is to go to the campaign where you want to use your ad No matter if it's testing or scaling campaign Now when creating the ad you want to select > "Use existing post" Then you paste the post ID Notes > make sure to rename the ad properly > make sure to use UTMs
Now you have an ad that gathers all the social proof under one ad, no matter how many times and in what campaigns you duplicate it But, you still have an issue with asset customization Cause, your original format would be shown weirdly on reels and story placement
So, here's the trick you have been waiting for On the ad level, below the link section Click > "Edit placement" & "Select a placement to edit" After selecting it, it would open a new interface You click "Change" and select the appropriate format for the placement you chose
After that, you click "Save" and "Publish" And now you have a perfect setup > Ad that is gathering all social proof > Ad that's native to all placements For some reason, FB is forcing us to find these workarounds instead of making this simpler I hope you found this valuable!
How does using post ID actually work in the ad account? Check below: https://x.com/IstvanicMarin/st...
After generating $250m for DTC brands, I’ve realized that 99% of them are making the exact same mistakes that hold them back from scaling to 9 figures So I created f resources on how to overcome to most common FB Ad problems Here it is, for free: https://adresources.inspirebra...
@IstvanicMarin Absolutely!!!
@IstvanicMarin man's got the real sauce 🔥 should be gatekeeping this shit
@IstvanicMarin Media buying is dead? Nope. Next level media buying right here.
@Rich_Muskett Thank you man! you know how it is - always trying to find the next loophole 😅
@IstvanicMarin Hi. But this only works with FB post, even if we use post ID, Instagram post (which is made from that same FB post) will have 0 engagement when we use the FB post ID on another campaign. Have you find a way to fix this problem? Our sale 70% come from Instagram, it's bad.
@nghongviet Create ad, take the post ID right away, and then once you duplicate it, it would carry it on IG as well
@IstvanicMarin Engagement and social proof is so important.
@IstvanicMarin Nice one!
@IstvanicMarin Do you still see brands not using post id?
@mar_szychowski Here and there
@IstvanicMarin Implemented this tactic for a few of my clients last year. This was part of the reason why their MRR is up 800%
@kasperkristia Yeah, such a simple thing can make a massive difference
@IstvanicMarin That is great. I was wondering how do you test headlines and primary texts in this format?
@cowrao I manually create multiple ads, but tbh, rarely test those at all Creative has around 60% impact on the pefrormance of the ad, so most of my testing is with creatives
@IstvanicMarin Incredible. I've had a constant conflict between asset customization and using post ID. Trying this today.
@theovanha haha same here, until I found this not sure why FB is forcing us to do these work-arounds
@IstvanicMarin You would have outstanding YT channel
@GolovkinTrader just launched the first video yesterday: https://x.com/IstvanicMarin/st...
@IstvanicMarin @SaveToNotion #thread @threadreaderapp unroll @readwise save thread @memdotai mem it @rattibha
@IstvanicMarin I did this exactly how you said, but when I view the post with comments, copy the id and paste it into a new ad, “using an existing ad”, it says that it can’t find the ad id or it can’t be used. Know what I did wrong ?
@IstvanicMarin I followed the exact same step but still got an error. Whenever I enter the post ID and click on submit something else get embedded inside the ad. Can you help!
@_kaushalshah make sure you are NOT using asset customization in the original ad, no different formats and automatically cropped images, as FB counts that as a dynamic ad and you can't extract the ID from that the same way I explained above
