Kdj in one of those transmigration System plots or whatever they're called where he dies and has to complete a mission in order to go back to his original life. The mission: prevent the protagonist of a certain novel from turning into a villain.
The Star Stream System made sure stories were satisfying to the readers. Failures had to be fixed. One of the said failures was assigned to kdj, since he happened to be the only person who liked the story until the end.
It was an overused plot where the protagonist, yjh, is born in a rich family. Neglected by his parents, he became the target of the rest of the family members and even workers who wanted to manipulate him, the sole heir. Goes through a lot of hardships
without receiving any genuine love, and so he grows into a typical tyrant CEO who also had a lot of shady businesses like working with the mafia, drugs, etc. Normally there would be a heroine that shows up and changes his heart, except there was no such thing here.
Yjh became too much of a psychopath to care about that sort of relationship. That's when the backlash from readers started. That's what kdj had to change. Unfortunately? Interfering with a novel's worldline wasn't easy, so kdj's actions would be very restricted.
He had a total of 3 chances to change the plot, all of them timed. Basically, he'd show up 3 times over the course of yjh's life, and if kdj managed to influence him enough so that the story will have a happy ending, the System will fulfill kdj's wish - to return to his world.
There were two approaches kdj could take for this: 1. Start as a normal kid without memories and slowly remember everything as he grows up; 2. Start as a grown up but slowly forget his memories and turn into a kiddo as the story progresses;
The System was going to give him a long life in both cases, but the problem was the memory loss. Being yjh's childhood friend sounded like it would be a good emotional support, however kdj didn't think he could influence him too much like that. Especially since he wouldn't-
-be able to prevent yjh from being abused by the rest of the adults. Kdj needed to teach the young protagonist morals, and he couldn't do that as a kid of the same age. Which left the second option. The biggest problem here was that by the end of it,
kdj wouldn't remember jackshit, but he had a plan for that. Since he was allowed to bring objects - like the clothes on him or so - he'd be able to keep a diary of everything that was going on. Sure, after he forgets everything he might not believe what's written in it,
but knowing his own personality, as long as he writes exactly what wish he had to make and when, he'd think it is better to be safe than sorry and do it. That way he'd be able to return to his original world and life. Option 2 it is.
Kdj gets the role of yjh's new caretaker. Almost immediately fires the other workers who try to manipulate the protagonist and hires trustworthy people. Keeps yjh away from his toxic family members as much as possible. Becomes his fovorite person (unintended).
Three years pass, and the 1st chance to change the plot ends. The System censors kdj's identity, which means no one will clearly remember his face or name. Chance 2 starts. Highschool. Kdj looks at his now younger body, and reads his diary for any lost memories.
Befriending yjh is harder than expected. Kdj's heart hurts when he looks back on how yjh used to hug his legs and glare up at him, silently demanding headpats every time kdj spoke or looked at someone else. Sure, it'd been hard to get him to that point,
but making an affection starved kid open up was easier than with a highschooler. Slowly but surely, he manages to become yjh's friend. By the second year of highschool, yjh once again seems better than before. Calmer. Not frowning so much.
Kdj can tell that yjh noticed some similarities between him and his former caretaker by the way he asks trick questions sometimes, but it wasn't as if he would make a real connection between the two. The third and last year of highschool comes, and yjh starts acting weird.
At first he avoids kdj for two days, and then switches to extra clingy. Kdj has no idea what is going on, but it's not a bad thing so he doesn't worry much. 3rd year ends, and the System takes kdj back again. For yjh, it should appear as if he suddenly moved away.
Final round starts. This would be the last chance to 'fix' the protagonist, but for kdj there's no need. The System starts with the usual report of yjh's life. Apparently he inherited his family's business and cut them from his life afterwards, but started nothing illegal.
In other words, the ending was changed for the better. Kdj completed his mission and all he had to do was wait for the period of three years to pass. Then he'll be able to make his wish. As always though, he still gets an identity that keeps him close to the protagonist.
Kdj got kidified again, looking around 15, 16yo now. The System told him this time's role went like this - the protagonist's driver makes a mistake and almost runs him over, leading to yjh getting out to check if he's alright. After finding out that the kid is an orphan, yjh
decides to take him in and give him a job. The job depends on how messed up or normal the protagonist is. However when all this happens and yjh approaches kdj... kdj is shocked to see him smile, asking if he's alright.
He can't remember very well now, but yjh from the fragments of memories he has left looked different. Currently his features are sharp, body muscular. Way taller, especially compared to kdj's shrunken size. But most importantly, his smile. It's shocking to see him looking happy.
Yjh takes kdj in as the System planned, but doesn't even give him a job. Not house cleaning, not a shady job, nothing. Just... pampers him. Kdj is kept by his side 24/7, be it when they eat together, on his lap during business meetings, or sleeping in the same bed at night.
Has everything he'd ever want. It feels pretty good, although he sometimes wonders if he became the protagonist's teddy bear. Kdj's memories continue to disappear, so he panics when out of all things, his diary is gone. Searches for it everywhere, but it's nowhere to be found.
Yjh tells him that one of the housekeepers must've thrown it away by mistake, and asks kdj if he wants a new diary. Kdj can't tell him why that one couldn't be replaced, and his child body can't help but cry from frustration.
Yjh does his best to make him feel better, and eventually kdj doesn't feel sad anymore. He doesn't remember why that diary was so important to him, after all. He just gets over it, and continues living happily with his hyung.
Three years later, yjh takes him to see a meteor shower and tells him to make a wish. Kdj closes his eyes, and wishes to be with his hyung for the rest of his life. Doesn't see yjh's smile, him as well being happy to have his wish fulfilled.
Ever since high school days when he found kdj's diary and learned what really happened wih the person he treasured so much when he was younger.
It was hard to let kdj go a second time, especially after learning that whole years would pass until they'll finally meet again. But yjh waited, knowing it was going to be the last time they were apart. Kdj didn't need his past memories; they'll just create new ones together.
@sp_simp they both get a happy ending that they want 🥺 altho I'm curious to what kdj's og life was that made him agree with the system and want to go back 🤔
@idlemurmurs Kdj got hit by truck kun and was supposed to die so he has to complete the system's mission if he wants to wake up from coma...hsy and ysa are there but I was too lazy to mention them tee hee. What kdj doesn't know can't hurt him 🤫💖
