Nikola Tesla is 16 and he's hanging over the side of a dam, screaming for help. Just before he let's go to fall on the rocks below, he's struck by a flash of light showing him how to save himself. These were the same flashes of light that brought his inventions into his mind…

Tesla was an avid swimmer. He swam often as a young man. It was 1872 and Tesla had been swimming in a river nearby where he was studying in Austria.

There was a large flour mill with a dam across the river. He had swam in the river countless times. But on this particular day, he swam out, only to discover that the water levels had risen and he was being pulled toward the dam.

Tesla tried to swim away but it was too late… Luckily, just before he was washed over the edge, he managed to grab onto the wall with both hands. Things were not looking good…

Tesla’s words: “The pressure against my chest was great and I was barely able to keep my head above the surface. Not a soul was in sight and my voice was lost in the roar of the fall.” Tesla’s body slowly tired, as his brain scrambled to find a way out of this predicament.

What came next is unbelievable: “Just as I was about to let go, to be dashed against the rocks below, I saw in a flash of light a familiar diagram illustrating the hydraulic principle that the pressure of a fluid in motion is proportionate to the area exposed, and...

...automatically I turned on my left side. As if by magic the pressure was reduced and I found it comparatively easy in that position to resist the force of the stream.” Can you believe that?

Turning to his side, Tesla slowly worked his way across the dam toward the bank of the river. After a “long and painful ordeal” he eventually made it to the edge of the dam and with his last bit of energy pushed himself into the calm water, where he was found.

He didn’t escape the incident unharmed though: “I had torn virtually all the skin from my left side and it took several weeks before the fever subsided and I was well.” Absolutely insane story right? Well, there’s another one…

Two years earlier Tesla was again swimming in the water. He had decided he was going to prank some of his friends.

His plan was to dive under a floating structure and pop up on the other side, so his friends thought he just disappeared. Tesla felt good about the idea going into it: “Swimming and diving came to me as naturally as to a duck and I was confident that I could perform the feat.”

Tesla dove in and began swimming toward the structure. When he thought he was past the structure, he swam up to get a breath of air. But to his surprise, as he reached the surface, he hit a beam and was forced back down.

Panic flooded Tesla. He dove back down and swam as far as he could before he felt like his breath was going to completely give out. He swam to the surface and hit his head on another beam…

Summoning all his energy, he desperately made another frantic attempt but the result was the same. Again, things were not looking good: “The torture of suppressed breath was becoming unendurable, my brain was reeling and I felt myself sinking.”

Unbelievably, Tesla was saved by the flash of light once again: “At that moment, when my situation seemed absolutely hopeless, I experienced one of those flashes of light and the structure above me appeared before my vision. I either discerned or guessed that there was...

...a little space between the surface of the water and the boards resting on the beams and with consciousness nearly gone, I floated up, pressed my mouth close to the planks, and managed to inhale a little air, unfortunately, mingled with...

...a spray of water which nearly choked me. Several times I repeated this procedure as in a dream until my heart, which was racing at a terrible rate, quieted down and I gained composure.” Although he struggled, Tesla eventually made it out from underneath the structure.

He was greeted by his friends who thought he was long gone and they were just looking for his dead body… Crazy stories right!? Although those stories are entertaining on their own, I will end with a potential insight.

Image in tweet by The Knowledge Archivist

These stories touch on when we as individuals are in the darkest of times but manage to hang on till the last moment, we seem to be aided...

This could be God, some special part of your mind that can only be accessed in dire straits, or maybe a unique piece of code in the Simulation that gets activated when certain circumstances are met... Whatever the cause, there seems to be something there - I've experienced it.

Maybe you can relate to this? Or at least have heard of others having similar experiences? Where someone is given some sort of insight that saves them, just when the lights seem to be going out.

It’s safe to say we have no idea what’s going on with “Life,” so be open-minded about these ideas. And if you find yourself hanging over the side of a dam, suffocating underwater, or in any other life-threatening situation, don’t let go.

Image in tweet by The Knowledge Archivist

Your refusal to let go when all hope seems to be lost may just be what saves your life. If Tesla had given in, who knows what life would be like for the rest of us today!

USEFUL KNOWLEDGE: - If you find yourself facing death square in the eyes, do not let go. If you hold on till the very last moment, you may be aided in some manner. Tesla’s flashes of light were incredibly interesting. They appear to be epileptic in nature, but he would often

@KnowledgeArchiv I dont think any of this is factual lmao

@MDumblewski It’s in his autobiography “My Inventions.” He could have made it up but I see no reason why he would
