Don't overthink about making a portfolio, that can be easy. The hard part is creating your best content possible. Some thoughts on making an illustration portfolio.⤵ 🖌✨

1. A good portfolio is ALWAYS updated. Your content is what keep you close or away from your clients.

2. Put the focus on YOUR WORK. Keep the design as simple as possible. Using neutral colors without using crazy fonts.

3. Put your BEST works first. Potential clients won't go further if they don't like the first two pages. And no more than 10 pieces if it's a printed or PDF version.

4. 8 pieces with 8 different styles feels random, but 3 mini projects with 3 styles is better. Variety on style is cool, but CONSISTENCY is key.

@toni_infante Is there even a point in trying to make a career in entertainment media if you're not already an accomplished artist with how fast AI is accelerating?

@skittlefuck Good question. I'm not and expert, but I think AI will impact like internet or smartphones did. Not only on art or entertainment. How, is still too soon to know. But some employment opportunities will be created and others will no longer be needed. But yeah, makes sense start a

@toni_infante is it a good idea to mock up the illustrations on potential book covers / magazine pages too, and not just have the illo itself? ~12 pieces?

@toni_infante Thank you for the tips! I was wondering for an online portfolio, are there certain websites that you recommend using for work, and should it be separate from art you do for fun (like should they be on different websites)?
