All Latin grammar worth knowing summarised on just 8pages?! The naysayers said it couldn't be done. No chance. But that was in the dark days before 1961, when James P. Humphreys stepped forward and said "Hold my Kennedy":
The "Graphic Latin Grammar" has got your back...
@AntigoneJournal I can fit it on to one sheet of A6. Mind you, you need a damned good magnifying glass to read it. (Who else remembers the days of microfiche?)
@RobJLow Haha. The two-volume, magnifying-glass-provided version of the OED I have keeps such things in mind!
@AntigoneJournal I love a crib sheet. A crib 8-sheets might be pushing it a bit, however.
@FaraiUnVers Just sellotape them together as a single A1 sheet to paste over a full-length mirror?
@AntigoneJournal Still want to know what "Caesar adsum jam forte" means
@Auradacious Pompey aderat.
@AntigoneJournal I don’t see anything about the proper use of gerunds or gerundives so it’s either incomplete (or too small for my almost 60 year old eyes to read).
@ludden_tom Gerundives are listed after participles, briefly described under Syntax of Participles pt 2; the dative of the agent is mentioned under Dative pt 5. Gerund is touched upon under Syntax of Participles (!) pt 4.
@AntigoneJournal Why in lowercase letters? Sources of what?
@andypipot Sorry, what do you mean?
@AntigoneJournal Which text is a better way to introduce students to Latin: Wheelock's or Lingua Latina?
@Jb1983whizzle Genuinely a matter of taste. But I have rarely heard complaints from the Lingua Latina crowd...
@AntigoneJournal the pre Lafleur wheelock latin grammar had a similar sort of thing at the back... im sure im not the only one who saved that little section when the text fell apart... as it inevitably did
@AntigoneJournal found a PDF: https://kipdf.com/queue/graphi...
@AntigoneJournal Romanes eunt domus
@AntigoneJournal @shamusrm13 hoc pulchrum est
@AntigoneJournal I love this kind of stuff. I copied the final paradigms from an old Wheelock, laminated them, and still refer to them.
@AntigoneJournal Makes me think of those wonderful verb wheels that laid out all the possibilities for all conjugations... the only way I could deal with inflected languages.
@AntigoneJournal Excellent resource. My kids learned a lot of these by having them paired with a melody. I could probably still sing them today. 🎶
@AntigoneJournal That's a treasure, ευχαριστώ !
@AntigoneJournal It depends on the font
@AntigoneJournal Roughly 20 pages here:
@AntigoneJournal Got it because of your post.
@AntigoneJournal @HERMITGALS ga hier goed op
@AntigoneJournal @HERMITGALS ga hier goed op
@AntigoneJournal Blows out of the water one of my Latin teacher’s claim that it could all be written down on the back of a postage stamp.
@AntigoneJournal There is only Woodstock. Only!
@AntigoneJournal Is there an Attic or Koine version as well. I need to brush up on my Latin and Greek
@AntigoneJournal I think I still have one of those sitting around somewhere.
