šŸ¦‡šŸ§µ āš ļøtalks of body dysmorphia Thinking about Jason and coming back to a body that’s his but not

He’s too tall, too wide, too heavy, too much. This body steps heavy, feet touching the ground sooner than expected with too much noise. This body makes him have to look down to meet people’s eyes, give him vertigo when it stands straight

His fingers are long and thin with calluses and a birthmark across his palm like Willis These hands are crooked, covered in scars he recognizes but doesn’t remember and if he looks at the smooth palms too long he starts to hear the rhythm of this body’s heart in the wrist veins

The skin feels all wrong too, smooth in places he Knows should be rough and scarred in spots that were never touched. It stretches too tight across the knuckles, the cheek bones, the ribs. It makes it hard to swallow but it’s better than when it’s too loose and tries to drown him

His eyes are a muddy bluey gray like Catherine’s were with a single freckle in the left one This face has eyes that are pure and solid green green yellow green and they’re NOT his

He makes his armor heavy and layered to keep him inside of this body with straps that tighten and buckles that dig in to the muscle of the body with a pressure that’s grounding

His gloves keep this hands steady, make the fingers long and straight again, and go all the way up and over the wrists to compress everything tight and underneath the skin

He hides the eyes that aren’t his behind a whiteout lens mask that sticks to the face with a bio-adhesive tucked away underneath layers of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and thermoplastic polyurethane anti-ballistic material built into a helmet that requires a combination to take off

Jason doesn’t recognize himself anymore, not instinctively the way one should. He’s memorized the face he sees in the mirror and learned what this body looks like on a camera He can point it out now, can see that it’s the body that he is in when shown footage, but it’s not Him

@Ambrose_Darling ouch. a jason who was used to making himself small, only being bigger when he had to be turning into this person who couldn’t make himself small even if he tried, and he did try. stuck living a life he didn’t know in a body that wasn’t his and a mind he’s not sure he can trust.

@1withthecrowbar I always think about his favorite gargoyle as Robin and I NEED to know does he still fit up there????

@Ambrose_Darling jason coming back and seeing himself in such a different way that he can’t recognize himself anymore and it’s just a mix of emotions and shock 😭

@batnations That level of separation from himself and the world both physically and cognitively

@Ambrose_Darling He was so tiny and became so big after the pit. Poor baby 😭

@Ambrose_Darling omg yes after his resurrection jason trains himself to become hyperaware of his surroundings bc if he doesn't he'll rely on faulty muscle memory, misjudging how long his steps are, how tall he is, and he has trouble doing acrobatics now bc he can't orient himself in the air

@Ambrose_Darling i keep reading a fic that was based on this… and also remember a certain line from that was scrapped from epic the musical ā€œwhere is he where is the man who was larger than lifeā€ and i keep remembering how robin was magic and it was his protection from everything.
