Are there Igbo twins? Don’t think I have ever met any… and don’t think I know the equivalent of their twin names Edo: Odion & Akhere Yoruba: Taiwo and Kehinde Igbo: ? And add other tribes twin names in the comments if you will be so kind
@pyjama_ceo Igbo is Peter & Paul
@MexzyRx 😭😭
@pyjama_ceo We don't have particular names. Parents just give rhyming names. Eg Chikamso and Chikaima, Jidenna and Jideofor, Somkenechukwu and Somtochukwu...etc.

@francfec Wow!!
@pyjama_ceo It's not even every where in Edo that accepted twins. Ora they are called Omon and Odion. But in Otuo (40 mins away) twins had to be pounded by their mother at birth.
@efearue Wow!

@pyjama_ceo There's Onyeisi and Agiliga.
@pyjama_ceo Me and my spare parts, Ours names are Toochukwu Na Ifechukwu.... respectively.
@pyjama_ceo In some igbo dialects they're called Onye Isi and Agiliga.
@pyjama_ceo no Igbo nomenclature for twins probably because they were seen as taboo in Igbo and Efik etc culture at some point in history but of course there are Igbo twins. met several.
@pyjama_ceo Ejima is the word. There are. I have met some.
@pyjama_ceo Igbos call them Ejima. But I think Ejima is a loan word from Igala, their next door neighbour. Igalas also use Ejima for twins. But if one of the twins die at birth, then the surviving one is called Ogwu. For context “Eji” means two or double, in Igala.
@pyjama_ceo It's a rare thing around here. Probably because they used to throw them away at birth. Don't think they were ever celebrated enough to have special names. Getting them to stop the killing was difficult enough.
@pyjama_ceo I had triplets in High school. As 3 their mama named them “Three is good or better” (Ato di Mma) and I don’t know why. No individual name and we moved with it.
@pyjama_ceo Yeah, I am a twin. Nneoma & Nnenne, Lynda & Lydia
@pyjama_ceo Agiliga and Onyeisi are the names given in my place.
