How to feel like you’re getting ahead but actually procrastinate
@levelsio where's the purchase link?
@levelsio Is there one of these books that you actually liked?
@vinikloppel No I don’t read books
@levelsio People like to buy books and courses...makes them feel good about themselves. It is kind of taking action but not actually doing anything. Huge industry.
@alexchukovski Yes 100% You see this in many parts of life, lots of ppl selling procrastination In a way many ppl sign up to http://nomadlist.com also to procrastinate on changing their life and going nomad, only % actually go!
@levelsio Technologies that enable your products were build by people who read books, no way around it in science and more complex engineering.
@TomekSkupinski This is true, but still doesn't require me to read them
@levelsio What about MAKE? 😅
@schoolofjuan Don't need it, procrastination too, just ship a product
@levelsio “Sorry babe, the bed is for my productivity books”
@levelsio I used to be a big fan of such books until I realised I keep reading them but I don’t get anywhere. Nowadays, I’d rather read fiction. 😅
@levelsio The only self help book worth reading is “how to win friends and influence people” All these others are just variations of it All the sauce is in the original
@levelsio Reading is also culturally enriching; not everything in life is about generating MRR. Otherwise, it would be a very poor life. I have the best conversations with friends who read a lot.
@levelsio If you're "building a library" instead of making your first dollar, you're not gonna make it.
@levelsio There's reading for practical application/action, and there performative reading for vanity metrics. This looks like the latter for sure
@levelsio We need to find the illustrator who invented this style of front cover and jail him.
@levelsio Just ask ChatGPT to write a summary
@levelsio None of those books will probably make you rich. They'll make the authors rich.
@levelsio Aren't they supposed to be the background decorations in your video calls?
@levelsio Good take. Tell ChatGPT to summarize the book as one page and you're set. And 2-3 books would cover the whole lot.
@levelsio Steve jobs bio was amazing imo (knew nothing about apple prior 😂)
@levelsio Makes a nice picture though! I tend to use audible now and listen as I walk, seems to sink in more for me.
@levelsio Some of these books are actually quite good, and reading them could change your life. However, like everything else. Consumption without action is useless.
@levelsio Nice.
@levelsio Did you stand on a ladder?
@levelsio At least they are colorcoded
@levelsio Yes.
@levelsio So don't buy your book, I'll just be procrastinating? 😉
