hard rule before any given trade you should know where you're wrong on that idea. if you don't know the answer to that, then do not enter the trade.
hard stops vs soft stops most people start by using soft stops or even no stops at all. in my opinion, start by using only hard stops and transition into using soft stops if needed. using hard stops instills discipline which is something most new traders don't seem to have.
optimizing your stops using the POC/hvn's of candles as invalidations rather than direct highs or lows this will increase your final R even if just by a little due to the decrease in stop size equalling a larger position size.
optimizing stops (2) maximum adverse excursion how far does price go offside (underwater) on your winning trades If your trades rarely go far offside, it gives you an indication that you may need to decrease your stop size thus potential to increase your bottom line
entry optimization MAE if your trades do go offside a little, before then turning into winners you can optimize your entries especially if you enter at market it's telling you that your trades may at least go offside 0.1-0.3%, giving potential for limit entry over market.
