My Dad accidentally taught me an important lesson about HONESTY which is the reason why I can never be involved in any form of FRAUD; When I was in JSS1, my dad was so broke and we were all living in the same room, my parents and six kids; One night, I woke up to my Dad....
...talking to himself repeatedly in the dead of the night, saying "I will not steal to feed my family" "I will not dupe anybody to raise my kids" "I will always do the right thing" After a while he'll stop, sob silently and continue the recitation. My Dad was dealing with...
...something but I didn't know what it was until the day broke; The rest of my siblings woke up to prepare for school, I got up too to prepare but my dad called me back, sat me down and said with a shaky voice "I can't afford your education anymore" I was looking at him....
...but he couldn't look at my face. Then it hit me, my dad spent the whole night struggling with the decision to stop my education. He rather did that than to raise money through fraudulent means which he had the options for. I stopped school but that lesson never left me....
...And because my Dad rather stopped my education than to raise money fraudulently, I'll never do anything fraudulent to get money. With that drive, I went on to meet any skilled person I could find and plead to be taught for free I also learnt to raise money through....
...acquired skills. If I needed money, I would learn a new skill that will help me earn it. If I feel I'm not earning enough, I will learn a higher skill and that was my method from my teenagehood till date. FRAUD/Yahoo is never an option... For you to understand how....
...hard that decision was for my Dad, I scored 3rd only once in my entire school years, it was either 1st position mostly or 2nd (only two times) I represent my school for competitions with other schools. It was a tough decision for an academically brilliant child of his....
....Generally, my Dad taught me that Bad conditions should never be an excuse to do or choose evil. PS: I continued my education 2 years later from SS1, after Rivers State Governor at the time (Dr. Peter Odili) declared free education. I skipped JSS2 and JSS3 🥲
PSS: My Dad thought I hated him for that decision. He confessed to me recently But was surprised when I reassured him about how that decision changed my life and became the foundation for my discipline and morals as a man. I even thanked him for doing the right thing. #End

@iamuchealex This is a strong message. Most times, it's ok for parents to show their vulnerability to their children in a way that teaches them morals and strength.
@iamuchealex Proud of you stranger. Thank you for not being resentful towards your dad. If you had been resentful, it would have still been justified. But look at how you turned lemons around 😔😔 So proud of you man.
@iamuchealex Tomorrow one twitter goat with tail and two long horns would, in other trends, tweet that you don't owe your parents anything, and that they should have saved for their old age.
@iamuchealex One of the numerous unspoken demons men have to deal with alone. God bless your dad. ❤︎
@iamuchealex We need some more stories about fathers like this out there. Being a man, raising a family is not easy. And many fathers are toiling, doing what they can to provide for their families and so many don’t get the recognition for it. Of course recognition isn’t the point but we need
