Yes, I made the original sprites for Vampire Survivors. A thread! 1/6
The art was done for a free roguelike game called CastlevaniaRL around 2005, for fun because I loved roguelikes and wanted to work on one. They were the first set of game sprites I had created, so really don’t love them. 2/6
I really wanted to create my own roguelike game but can’t code and didn’t have the gusto to learn. So instead started hacking or contributing to other games by offering graphics to games that were ascii based like Brogue and Infra Arcana. 3/6
I entered a contest called TIGSource Assemblee in 2009/10 where artists created assets for the first month, whatever they wanted, and then developers had a month to create a game using only assets the community made. I won! 4/6
Many games you’ve probably seen ended up using the artwork and becoming popular like Realm of the Mad God https://www.tigsource.com/2010... 5/6
I begin making generic sprite sets for games spanning all genres and packaging them up for game developers to use. You’ve probably seen many games using my sprites (including Vampire Survivors). You can check out all my sprite sets on my website http://oryxdesignlab.com 6/6
