A lot of people assume that a suit can't drape well if you have an athletic figure. But check out this dinner suit Andrea Seoul made for Korean bodybuilder Amotti. Doesn't this look better than McGregor? IG amottivation IG andreaseoul_official (Thanks to Thomas for the tip)
No pulling. Clean shoulder and sleevehead. Trousers drape well. Compare to other athletic guys who assume (or want) everything to fit as tightly as possible.
@dieworkwear Derek I have to believe you know the answer for bodybuilders is no, DEFINITIVELY no. For MOST dudes that work out a lot to get a ripped physique (I am not one), being able to show off "look how ripped I am" is an essential requirement of any outfit - formal or otherwise.
@pinskinator In that case, I recommend making the suit out of clear plastic and at least tailoring it well, rather than wearing bad tailoring
@dieworkwear "Made for" matters. Bespoke suits are gonna fit beautifully. The trick, the hard thing to do, is buying a ready-to-wear suit & having it appear to fit as well as (or as near as makes no difference) a bespoke one. That is even more difficult men having a 10+ inch drop.
@awb20774 McGregor wears custom suits, but his team (from what I've seen) is not made of serious clothing people—more like salespeople. He also has bad taste. There are lots of ways for custom tailoring to go wrong, esp if an unknowledgeable client keeps interfering with the process
@dieworkwear Obviously McGregor looks ridiculous but, amotta looks very boring
@kettingding The same tailoring principles can be applied to any fabric or style you want. But many do not think about things such as fit and silhouette; they only think about things like a wild color to make an outfit "interesting." The effect ends up falling flat. Compare pics 1-3 to 4
@dieworkwear You are right, but McGregor does actually want to look like that in his suit
@dieworkwear Okay yeah but is that guy on as much coke as Conor?
@dieworkwear 100%. My fave movie star for his suits was Cary Grant. I hear he had them all custom tailored on London. Thread request!
@dieworkwear Looks so much better. Not stuffed in a suit - wonderful lines.
@dieworkwear Throw those old stereotypes out the window! This suit is proof that tailoring is the true superpower, not body type. Andrea Seoul clearly understands how to work with Amotti's build – look at the way that jacket hugs his shoulders without pulling, the way the pants flow over his
@dieworkwear This man… is invited to ruin my life any day.
@dieworkwear Not purple though. 😄
@dieworkwear Honestly that doesn’t look great either. 🤔 where’s his waist?
@dieworkwear seams are fighting for their life
@dieworkwear Yes
@dieworkwear FWIW Muhammad Ali had a great tailor
@dieworkwear Oh good gods… Someone save those poor seams on that tacky jacket that looks like it’s made of polyester right out of the spirit Halloween reject bin… Seriously, McGreggor looks like he’s in something off wish or Temu or w/e. He got SCAMMED by that custom 😭
@dieworkwear McGregor *wants* to look like a suit can’t be made big enough for him. The guy is 5’9/170lbs. He could be dressed like Fred Astaire if he wanted to. He doesn’t want to.
@dieworkwear Those skintight armholes on McGregor look ridiculous.
@dieworkwear the boys are k-poppin those muscles
@dieworkwear In German, we would say, McGregor looks like a "Presswurst", a stuffed sausage.
@dieworkwear If you’re a bodybuilder that wants to hide your muscles, just throw a burlap sack over yourself and call it a day
@dieworkwear The celebrities who wear ill fitting suits to show off their physique are failing to draw attention to those muscles because ultimately, they look like their clothing is three times too small and like it’s going to rip at any moment. It’s not a good look. Seoul looks great.
@dieworkwear I once read from GQ’s famed Style Guy Glenn O’Brien (RIP 🙏) that if you can’t make a golf swing in it, your suit probably doesn’t fit correctly. He was right. Also: “The whole point of wearing clothes is to not look ridiculous.” - Brunello Cucinelli. McGregor looks ridiculous.
@dieworkwear McGregor looks like a wind-up toy. Seoul looks like an Emmy Award nominee.
@dieworkwear It's important for men to look like they're in the middle of hulking out all the time.
@dieworkwear He looks so good too!!! The point is these dudes are trying to get their suits tailored so everyone can see how jacked they are, and ultimately, they end up looking really bad bc if it. Ppl already know you’re jacked, it’s better to just look good in the suit.
@dieworkwear Amotti looks wonderful. McGregor looks like his jacket shrunk in the was. My 8 year old friend said, “The guy in black looks better, yhe guy in pink looks fat & like he slept in his suit.” This girl knows zero about tailoring or body builders; her opinion is pure.
@dieworkwear Well of course it can.
