Now that all BF 2042 maps are out and rebricked, I thought it would be nice to showcase all the builds in one thread and perhaps include my thoughts and some building trivia! Let's go through all of them in the ๐งต:
Kaleidoscope- first map rebricked and it was entirely based on the reveal trailer. It took hours of me painstakingly going through the trailer frame by frame to guess the layout of the map. Although I altered the build after the rework dropped, I think this one could be improved
Orbital on the other hand, was based on leaked gameplay (naughty me for looking at things I was not supposed to see yet, but I cleared it with EA before posting). I think this turned out to be one of the best 2042 builds. It always helps to have a big, recognizable landmark
Which is not really found on Manifest. I tried to capture the atmosphere by adding some lights and darkening the scene- which I abandoned in the rework. Although this one uses some clever angles, it is not my favorite build by far.
Renewal uses the same build technique and it ended up being one of the most liked builds here. It took hours to correctly angle all the solar panels, but it was worth it!
Breakaway- probably the largest build in terms of footprint, but another one I think turned out great. It also allowed me to include some easter eggs in both og build and rework
Discarded is another big build and although it has a big landmark, it ended up looking a bit flat in my opinion. Still, I had a lot of fun designing the Collosus!
One map that did not end up being flat, was Exposure, one of the best map in the game (in my opinion). I partially built this one on stream and it is one of my most favorite builds ever (perhaps I need to do more streams?)
Stranded was again built before I managed to get my hands on it, based on reveal trailer and creator gameplay. The ship is much larged than Collosus on discarded, which allowed me to capture more detail (text on the side etc.).
By the time Spearhead released, I was starting to feel burnt out, so halfway through the build, I called it quits. But then, three months later I picked up where I left of and this is the result. Fun fact: because of the break I forgot to add my signature EE
Flashpoint was done on a much smaller scale, more in line with my BFV builds. I think it is still recognizable, but far from the best build
Reclaimed is another rebricked map I based entirely on gameplay footage before release. I got invite to EA Creator Network after this one- which is fitting since Reclaimed is set in ๐จ๐ฟ, which is where I am from. Except we don't have such mountains around Zlin ๐
Hourglass was a though nut to crack as Stadium, major landmark, was hard to do at my usual scale. That is why I waited until it is reworked to see what will change. Stadium dissapeared (not for long) and I was finally able to get this done
Redacted was based on the first gameplay event I was invited to. I was rushing to get this out asap and it was a difficult build, as the map is set entirely underground. I don't think I would do this map much differently now, but some detail can be certainly improved.
I tried to give Haven enough verticality, as well as some clever angles to accurately capture the layout. In the hindsight, I should have probably increased the scale a bit to capture more detail.
And finally, Stadium. I thought this one will take a couple of weeks and I didn't wan't to even start until after it is released. But then I got the idea how to get it done... and completed the whole build in one sitting (before release). It is one of my a favorite builds.
So what's next while we wait for the next Battlefield? I am working on some non-BF projects and then I will probably take a break to enjoy summer. But after that, there are so many more past Battlefield maps that need rebricking๐I ain't going nowhere.
And as a bonus- fully buildable Cav Brawler with three different skins.
@taris120_builds Great job but what is the program youre using to build these?
@hack1ty Bricklink Studio
@taris120_builds These are all amazing.
@taris120_builds Looks good ๐
@taris120_builds Brilliant ๐๐
@taris120_builds excessive vertically is one of the core issues with how frustrating 2042 can be to play It is a hard detriment to fun, as are excessive angles and rat spots.
