OKAY SO I’M FINALLY MAKING THAT REINA THREAD 🧵
For those unaware, Reina is my Commandant OC and my go-to Commandant of Gray Raven whenever I write anything that involves the PGR universe! I came up with her character concept last year and have been adding stuff to it ever since!
First things first, a little bit of background: Reina’s is Mexican! Her parents met during the Golden Age as researchers of viral biology; this same research background is what qualified them to be accepted into Babylonia in the great evacuation.
Reina was raised with the best knowledge of her home culture’s traditions, food, and history that her parents could provide, and though she lacks any other living relatives, had a very nice home life. She was a fairly earnest and studious child, and—
—grew up feeling a deep sense of responsibility for the people that were left behind on earth. That emotion is what eventually led to her joining F.O.S., and what propelled her to become her year’s Chief. She firmly believes that it is Babylonia’s primary responsibility to—
—take care of what is left of mankind and rectify its past mistakes.
Next, personality! Though Reina grew up fairly quiet and a little socially isolated, she came into herself in her teenage years and during her time in F.O.S. It is during this time that she developed her habit of using levity to calm down her fellow classmates, and—
—this eventually blossomed into her more realised personality of a warm and humour-loving woman that makes an effort to set people at ease with jokes and silly quips. Reina is also usually pretty aware of when the atmosphere calls for a more serious attitude, though she—
—has slipped on occasion and perhaps cracked a joke or two when she shouldn’t have.
Reina’s main hobbies are reading (both traditional literature and graphic novels/manga) and wrestling in her off time. Though Babylonia understandably doesn’t have the most active wrestling community, she’s made an effort to teach some of her friends and fellow Commandants—
—the moves she’s learned from some old recordings, to moderate success. She also quite enjoys collecting and modifying weapons, though these days contents herself with snooping through Lee’s collection in that respect.
I don’t really have any visual references for Reina being as Latina anime characters are incredibly uncommon, but her physical description in my head is: Between 5’03”—5’07” (short jokes are made constantly), moderately dark skin, shoulder length wavy brown hair, side swept.
Reina has sustained a variety of scars during her time with Gray Raven, including some very prominent ones on her face, hands, and upper torso. She is incredibly physically fit, and loves sweeping her dear Ravens off their feet—literally—at any opportunity.
Reina’s relationship with Gray Raven is one of such devotion that if anything were to happen to any of them, she would probably lose her mind. She has told herself countless times that she is prepared for any loss that comes—yet when it comes to her Ravens, she cannot imagine—
—or accept any world where they don’t survive. Her respect and love for all of them is a bond she considers more important than her own life.
Also, being the forward woman she is, she was the first to confess in all three cases. She loves showing physical affection to her team, and is perhaps even a little bit too clingy, though she is sure to be much more subtle whenever others are around.
She also has a particular form affirming contact for each of them. For Liv, it’s stroking her hair; for Lucia, having an arm around the shoulders; for Lee, it’s holding hands.
If Reina ever dies, it is her wish to be buried near Ocotlán, her father’s hometown. Her biggest dream is to retake the earth for humanity and then live in a home in the countryside with her husband and wives, though she acknowledges that it’s unrealistic.
I’ll probably add more to this thread later, but I hope this was an interesting infodump for now!
