We’ve crafted and made public thousands of high-quality logos, and since their launch, we’ve been getting the same questions. ⋅ Why don’t you sell them for profit? ⋅ Why didn’t you just use an API? ⋅ Why didn’t you use an AI vectorizer? It’s not that simple. Here’s why 🧵↓
Why don’t we sell our logos for profit? There are many questionable ways to make money, and selling trademarked content would be one of them. But we’re not in the business of quick profits. We’re dedicated to building a brand that’s trusted and known for quality.
Profiting from trademarked content isn’t just a legal gray area—it was never our goal. Our aim is to showcase a slice of Fey, share http://fey.com/logos with creators and educators, and ultimately drive more traffic to our product.
Why didn’t we just use an API? We tried several, but none met our standards. While they’re good at producing large quantities, they often sacrifice quality—rendering wrong colours, outdated designs, incorrect formats, and sometimes even completely random images.
We’ve also never found an API that offers every logo in a consistent vector format, which is crucial for scalability and precision in our specific use cases.
Why didn’t we just use a vectorizer? It’s easier said than done. Achieving clean, accurate vector files from original logos, especially when they are pixelated or unavailable in vector format, is virtually impossible. Simply hitting the “vectorize” button wouldn’t always work.
Another reason is our need to optically align icons within specific pixel constraints. Some logos require adaptation for legibility, a process that demands a level of creativity technology alone can’t yet provide.
Ultimately, behind each aspect of http://Fey.com is a story of dedication, a refusal to cut corners, and a commitment to making the best possible product. It's a lot of work... But our customers pay $30/mo knowing that we obsess over every detail, even with our logos.
