Battle Disk: Primordial Echoes 🦖🥚
@adamjmarin Dear Adam thank you for share your great work! I try to create battle disk like your's and I inspire your jobs thank you again <3 and also I want to ask how did you do disk backgrounds I tried some backgrounds but I dont like it much what's your motivation to create background ty
@raggeaton For all the pieces in this series so far, I drew a super loose sketch at 2x size to get a sense of the composition. At this stage, I resolve the basic layout but always leave room for adjustments in the pixel stage. For BG color: I try depicting my subject in as few clrs [...]
@raggeaton as possible, and use the remaining palette space for BG. I sometimes use different colors for the BG (which takes me outside the palette limit) and later adjust colors manually so that there's more inter-ramp mixing (e.g. midtone purple in the white-gray ramp also used in BG)
@raggeaton General BG philosophy: Play with different forms of contrast between subject and BG. E.G. Composition with limited hue contrasts but strong value contrasts / the opposite, /w strong hue contrasts and a more even value gamut. Practice both w narrow and wide palettes. Good luck! :D
@adamjmarin @raggeaton Woah! Thank you for the explanation Adam! I'm currently working in a pixelart game with illustrations alike what you're doing here...and I always ask myself about your process, your artwork is very inspiring. Taking notes, thank you master!
