2 years ago I got nerd sniped by @flydotio to bring on more Rails devs. I said "hell yeah" because it meant I'd get to work with a cast of verifiable bad asses. Recently I was part of a full-stack lay-off of about 40 people, from founders to staff. š§µ
First, I'm grateful for my time @flydotio. It was just what I needed after co-founding & CTO-ing Poll Everywhere for 14 years and introducing my third child into the worldāheavier on IC work, lighter on management, connected to customers, and lots of writing. š
As the haze lifted from taking my third child from 0 to pre-school, I realized how much I enjoy helping people build. Whether it's teams, companies, investments, or productsānothing beats the messy process of aligning people to build awesome stuff for the world. What's next?
I'm looking for CxO, Director, & VP roles at companies where I think I can move the needle. In the meantime I'll be consulting for companies that are navigating the B2B/enterprise transition for the first time, helping CTO's level-up, & hacking on projects. DM's are open. š¤
The nice thing about being laid off with a group of incredible people is seeing them come together and help each other. I've been reaching out to folks I know to make intros to other Fly alumni who are looking for work. If we know each other and you're hiring, reach out! š¤
These things are never easy for all involved, but Fly really is doing a great job handling these lay-offs and treating people well. I wish them the best and believe they're going to continue doing incredible things that set the standard for what we expect from the cloud. āļø
