Sam Altman will give himself 7% of Open AI which at its current valuation of $150B would be $10.5B in shares Sam Altman on taking shares in OpenAI just 4 months ago: “It's so deeply unimaginable to people to say i don’t really need more money... If I
I guess there's legal reasons why he could never say he wanted to make money with a non-profit

@levelsio Is it just me or does Sam always sounds condescending?
@levelsio He's part of the "Effective Altruism" movement. Former alum include Sam Bankman Friedman. https://www.forbes.com/sites/j...
@levelsio it's really weird, damaging to Sam's reputation, and I feel/hope there's a big piece of context that is missing from this.
@levelsio So Sam talks about not needing more money, but now he's pocketing billions from OpenAI? If you're gonna cash in, at least be upfront about it. The hypocrisy is unreal!
@levelsio He doesn‘t deadlift, that‘s why
@levelsio there's a 100% mismatch between his "would never hurt a fly" body language and his track record of becoming one of the most powerful people on the planet
@levelsio i trust people who act like assholes in public (elon) more than people who act like angels in public (sam)
@levelsio Getting shares also mean he may get voting shares and be chairman. I tunings he will become a chairman and step down as CEO.
@levelsio "You never know if he's telling the truth or not" Protip: if he's talking in public, he's probably not...
@levelsio Wait until you find out he’s also not being honest about changing the world.
@levelsio Yeah.
@levelsio He’s only human and like anyone else he’s going to make mistakes, say things he might regret or do things that could embarrass him. That’s part of being human. But he’s getting things done and he always has! Without his drive & determination, we might not have the incredible
@levelsio I don't need any more money.... but.... 10B more.... I guess is like... whatever. (impeccable aura)
@levelsio There is something deeply disturbing and nefarious behind his eyes imo
@levelsio “Conspiracy theory” 😂 Something is going on, big time
@levelsio For me in the podcast he clearly say he would have prefer taking equity because that piss him to have this topic over and over again. So probably he cannot raise as he would. Now the company will be for profit and him having shares means VC understands what they do and why. So
@levelsio good point
@levelsio He raised a ton of capital from investors globally, so I am sure there was a lot of pressure there. What investors will fund a trillion dollar round for a "non profit"?
@levelsio Lol I am sure they will eventually make a movie about Sam and OpenAI. Just like the Social Network for Zuck. There is definitely enough drama to make one.
@levelsio You can imagine why the whole crypto community is also suspicious of his WorldCoin project.
@levelsio This won’t end well for him
@levelsio His stance probably changed after he was forced out of his own company.
@levelsio That “company” is toxic. The exodus is a clear indicator. Hard to see it any other way.
@levelsio Where there’s smoke there’s fire
@levelsio 100% agree. The sneakiness is what makes it feel wrong.
@levelsio Maybe he’s using the Elmo book on promises to share holders
@levelsio What lol
@levelsio Sam Altman is the closest thing to Miles Dyson that we have seen, to date... NOT a good thing!
@levelsio Dev holding 7% is crazy
@levelsio My understanding is that OpenAI is operating as an LLC with "profits interests," so it should be non-taxable at grant. Compared to actual shares or options, it's a big difference. Nonprofit to profit will have no material impact on his upside. Wonder if the cap will be lifted?
