Almost. We have a pristine copy of the entire USENET saved by an insurance company in Ohio. Years ago before most folks cared a programmer called to have tapes and mainframe to be “recycled” and called a friend of mine. We rescued it. The data has been tested, we just need time

@BrianRoemmele woah. thank you Brian.

@BrianRoemmele Extraordinary, Brian 🤯

@BrianRoemmele I’m in there.

@BrianRoemmele I thought Henry Spencer in Toronto saved years worth of Usenet posts…

@BrianRoemmele Bump What’s the status of this? I would consider a pristine or even mostly complete archive of Usenet to be of inestimable value. As near as I can tell there is nothing even close available

@BrianRoemmele If I thought a Nobel was significantly worth something, I would nominate @BrianRoemmele

@BrianRoemmele that’d be a real marvel. Usenet and the old listserv was where the action was at even as the internet was taking off. used to be oddball torrents of un branches but haven’t checked in years old irc chat servers be miraculous if any admins have those aging out on old platters

@BrianRoemmele You’ve been doing the lords work for a while. Wow.

@BrianRoemmele You're a real keeper of the flame. This gives me some unexpected hope.

@BrianRoemmele Thank you for not letting us lose all this. Kids these days have no idea how cool life was. How different and real compared to this digital world. Life was so much better before “social media” and “social engineering”. Movies and tv shows were better.

@BrianRoemmele Damn your a hero Brian

@BrianRoemmele Holy cow! I have a bunch of immature writings on the Usenet from maybe the 80s and 90s. Too cool that you saved it!

@BrianRoemmele Stay blessed my man 🙏

@BrianRoemmele Your AI will be 🔥

@BrianRoemmele Preserving proof there was a time the internet required proper punctuation and indented paragraphs!

@BrianRoemmele Check out @IagonOfficial a decentralised storage supplier. This or something like this would be amazing to use.

@BrianRoemmele This begs the question: "Why did an insurance company accumulate it"?"

@BrianRoemmele Y’all need to hire me as a remote and let me dig. :)

@BrianRoemmele 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

@BrianRoemmele 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@BrianRoemmele Anyway we can help.

@BrianRoemmele Lexis/Nexis.

@BrianRoemmele You could probably make fortune just from people paying you to never make it public and let people see their early online interactions.

@BrianRoemmele Oof. Lots of extraneous stuff in that. Good luck. I’m sure you know GREP, if not even more.

@BrianRoemmele Wow. Brian, you truly are amazing. Next thing you are going to tellus you have all the data from HAL 2001 datasets.

@BrianRoemmele 👀👀👀👀👀👀

@BrianRoemmele so happy there are people like you doing this for future generations

@BrianRoemmele You have an amazing group of friends

@BrianRoemmele Wow that's great to know

@BrianRoemmele We would be interested in taking a look at it to reintroduce it to Usenet.
