i was talking about how people receive information (art, new ideas, etc) with @ato_alexander recently. someone had said that most people who ask questions at a particular film festival only speak to self aggrandise themselves. there usually isnt really a question involved.
i think when content (music, film, art, youtube, tiktok, ideas, w/e) hits a familiar button for an audience it triggers an 'i know what this is saying and i know how to respond to it' kind of reaction. and completely bypasses any requirement to engage with it. or think at all lol
so people love regurgitating insights from something else that they can vaguely apply to whatever theyve just experienced. any content that actually builds on what came before is met with a lot less posturing.
i feel like something that really grows on you after not liking it at first just means that you have actually processed what ever that thing is. instead of closing the door because its unfamiliar, or different to expectations.
is a big beautiful world. so many of my fav things i didnt like at first
try not to be the person who thinks that everything just happened to peak around whatever time they were 19
@iameden U put this exactly how I feel (and I know others feel) into words perfectly. Especially when our dopamine is rinsed these days, I think it causes all of this.
@iameden this is unironically so real because like, sometimes i still feel like im 19-20 and i have to realize that time moves on and moves fast, im 23 now and even though i may feel the same its good to recognize that things are changing for the better in every regard
