Mughals suspected Khatris of siding with Banda Bahadur, so to show support and loyalty with mughals Khatris shaved their beards to distinguish themselves from rebels and also contributed money to mughal Campaigns. This show submissive nature of this race.
There is a legend related to how Khatris became shopkeepers from military service , according to this a lot of Khatris died fighting on the side of Mughals in their Deccan campaigns , Aurangzeb out of compassion ordered widowed Khatris women to be remarried but khatris refused
so Aurangzeb terminated their military service and ordered them to Shopkeepers and brokers. This indicate toward their loyalty to Mughal throne.
The Raja of Burdwan in Bengal was Khatri who got his estate as a result of his loyalty with mughal throne.
The Shikarpuris ( another name of Khatris) were loyal to Durrani Empire to such extent that they were literally sponsoring brutal campaigns of Durranis. They were loaning cash to Durranis , supplying armies in the battlefield , served as their revenue farmers. This is nothing
but act of treachery to the motherland, supporting ab enemy that literally raped, destroyed, enslaved natives of India, but today no one ask for the accountability from them. Rare privilege.
The word khatri is synonymous to coward we have seen above.
Their position in central asia ( where they go for trading) is very humiliating and depressing. They are seen as yellow faced Hindus of Cowardly and Sneaky Character. They are the only Hindus known in Central Asia.
After mutiny when British were classifying marital Races, Khatris and Aroras were simply deemed unmartial , they were given least preference as fighters. British deemed Aroras as Cowardly, secretive , greedy race with few manly ( मर्दाना) qualities.

Now coming to Jats , Jats were core of the Sikh rebellion. Banda Bahadur's entire campaign at the start of 18th century were supported by Jat Zamindars.
Infact the khalsa ideology given by Guru Gobind Singh was a mirror of Jat Character. The martial tradition of Punjabi Jats and regular use of Arms by them was the core of Khalsa Philosophy.
This is further confirmed by the fact that most of the Sikh misls belonged to Jats that were involved in rebellions in that period.
Actually Jats Started dominating Sikhism way earlier of Khalsa. Mid seventeenth century manuscript Dabistan I Mazahib says same thing.
Britishers themselves believed that it were the Jat Sikhs that upheld khalsa power , they were consisted core of Seikh Soldiery .
Denzil Ibbetson Considered Jat Sikhs more potent danger to British. He says if Jat Sikhs decide to revolt against British after losing loyalty, then the danger will greater than the mutiny of Bengal that started in 1857.
In the end I will only say that Khatris are only good at dancing and item songs not fit for martial duties.
