It takes him a minute to figure out his smartphone but he knows Suguru's number by heart so he calls him. It rings... Suguru doesn't answer. It goes to voicemail. Satoru is panicking even more now bc Suguru ALWAYS answers his phone calls.

Even if Suguru is in the middle of doing something. Fighting a curse? Answered. Middle of sleeping? Answered. Talking to someone else on the phone? Ends that call and answers Satoru's. Something has to be wrong if Suguru wasn't answering his phone.

Satoru calls again. And again. Then he's desperate enough to leave a voicemail, telling Suguru that he looks old now and he doesn't know where he is and Six Eyes is too overwhelming for him... he doesn't know what to do and doesn't understand why Suguru isn't answering his phone.

He's about to call again when his phone rings. It's Suguru. He answers and immediately starts to feel less panicked. Suguru still sounds the same and it's so grounding. "Satoru, tell me where you are. I'll come and get you." Satoru describes where he's and waits for Suguru.

It doesn't take long for Suguru to show up on one of his curses. Suguru looks... Different. He's in casual clothes, his hair is longer and he looks... Older just like Satoru does. Still, seeing Suguru brings a sense of calm upon Satoru.

Suguru is asking him if he's hurt, in that soft tone he always speaks to him in and Satoru launches himself into his arms. Satoru hugs him tight and feels content the moment Suguru returns the gesture, strong arms wrapping around his waist.

Suguru whispers to him "i got you" and "you aren't hurt right?" Satoru is happy and doesn't feel as frazzled anymore. He pulls back a little to really look at Suguru. He's older but still as handsome as he was when he was 16. Satoru's fingers tangle in the ends of Suguru's hair..

He especially liked the longer hair. It looked good. Suguru looked /good/. Satoru can't help himself when he leans forward to kiss Suguru... Who jolts back like he was burned. Satoru's instantly hurt by the action and asks what's wrong. Suguru avoids answering...

And tells Satoru they need to get out of here and somewhere safe to evaluate Satoru's condition. Which should be Satoru's first concern except it isn't... Now he's more concerned with the fact his boyfriend rejected his kiss. "Why won't you kiss me?" He asks, sounding hurt.

Suguru pulls away from him fully now with a sigh and tells him again that they need to go somewhere else, saying it's important that Satoru is safe. They can call Shoko. 'Sure, whatever,' Satoru thinks. They can do that later. Right now, he cares about how Suguru is avoiding-

Looking at him and won't kiss or touch him. Then, a thought crosses his mind. A thought that a 16 year old Satoru could never, ever imagine. "Did...Did we break up?" Suguru's looks says it all and Satoru feels sick.

Continued.. “Wh-what happened?” He’s disbelief. How could they have broken up? There had to be a good reason... Not that Satoru could think of any.

“Satoru... It’s complicated.” Now Satoru’s getting pissed. Suguru’s going to say his name like that and then tell him ‘it’s complicated’ in that patronizing tone like he’s some child. Well, he is a child... Kind of.

His body might not be but in his head he’s still 16 and he reacts like 16 year old Satoru would.

“What the fuck do you mean ‘complicated?’ I know when you’re bullshitting me, Suguru. Unless you forgot how well I can read my /boyfriend/.” Satoru snaps and Suguru physically winces at his words.

“Do you not love me anymore?” Satoru asks because he knows there is no way he couldn’t love Suguru anymore. It just wasn’t in the realm of possibility for Gojo Satoru.

There isn’t anything, even murder or cheating, that could fully erase the love he has for Suguru. He’d love him, no matter what, forever. There’s no one else for Satoru in this world. Suguru was the end for him.

Satoru can tell Suguru wants to lie. There’s a look in his eyes but Satoru would know if he did... Suguru had a specific tell when he lied. It was so miniscule that only Satoru would be able to recognize it.

Instead of listening to Yaga drone on about curse techniques and old dead sorcerers, he spent his time staring at Suguru and committing every single feature to memory.

“It’s not that simple.” Suguru tries to say more but Satoru doesn’t let him.

“Stop being a coward and say it Suguru. Tell me you don’t love me anymore.” He knows that will piss Suguru off. And there it is... The tell. The twist of his mouth. The narrow of his eyes. A twitch of his brow.

“I don’t love you anymore.” Satoru wants to applaud him for how steely his voice is. If Satoru wasn’t looking right at his dumb, beautiful face then he would probably believe him. Still, hearing the words break his heart.

“Fucking liar.” He hisses out then turns his heel and walks away. Suguru is after him instantly.

“Where are you going?” Satoru ignores him. He doesn’t think he’s ever been so angry at Suguru. Even back when they first met and fought constantly.

“Satoru, stop.” Suguru demands, trying to sound strict. That isn't going to work. Suguru should /know/ better. Satoru almost scoffs but Suguru doesn’t even deserve to hear his voice right now.

“Satoru, please stop.” There’s that sweet, soft tone again. Satoru tells himself not to cave. “I still love you.” Satoru almost trips, stumbling slightly but Suguru instantly catches his arm and holds him steady.

“And I think I always will but...” Suguru trails off for a moment. “Things have changed. A lot has happened in 7 years.” 7 years? That means they’re 23 now. Satoru can’t say he really thought about what he would be doing at 23.

He does know that whatever it was, he always planned on doing it with Suguru. So, what could have happened in those 7 years? If Suguru still loved him and there isn’t a possibility of Satoru not loving him back.

“What happened? Tell me...” He finally turns back to face Suguru and throws out a word he hates using and will only say it to Suguru. “Please.”
