In every relationship, someone with avoidant attachment eventually feels trapped. The voice in their head tells them they’re better of single, and alone. Their partners needs feel like a full time, and they’re not sure why.
@Theholisticpsyc I used to be an avoidant. Took me until age 30+ to start having breakthroughs. I'd end or sabotage relationships with people I desperately loved. Shed no tears. It was the fear of being truly seen.
@lacescael @Theholisticpsyc what breakthrough made you realize this? How did you come to realize that it was fear of being seen? I struggle with sabotaging my relationships :(
@ecyla_ @Theholisticpsyc Just tons of reading. Reddit, blog posts, books, etc. I started to educate myself on narcissism. Next, MBTI, the school system, societal norms. My core "I am defective" wound started to melt away. I suddenly had nothing to hide and, therefore, no longer feared rejection.
