tears gather in yuuji’s eyes so quickly he has to bite his fist to hide a sob. ah…was that why senpai was taking him out to shinjuku so often? sleeping w him so often? all the hugs and smiles they had together, were any of them even real?
“oi gojo, thats scummy even for you,” he hears shoko say, “you can grieve your one and only without dragging the poor kid into it.” “im not /dragging/ him into it. he has nothing to do with suguru, and /everything/ to do with me…yuuji’s great, and he’ll never even know.
i’ll enjoy him while i can and when suguru comes back, it’s just too bad…maybe in another life.” so thats all he was…someone to fill the gap in the meantime. oh but at least, yuuji amends, gojo-senpai likes him enough.
not like geto senpai (/never/ like geto-senpai), but he said he was ‘great’. not ‘fine’, not ‘okay’, and of everyone else, he chose yuuji. for the strongest, the brightest, the funniest, the /best/…wasn’t that all yuuji could ask for? all he /can/ ask for?
well that’s it then, yuuji decides. he’ll fill that gap in gojo-senpai’s heart, take what he can get while it’s still in his grasp and leave when it’s time for him to leave. he was given a chance. better not waste it, right?
and so yuuji never tells gojo he knows, greedily eating up his every praise and affection, treating every moment as if it’s his last because really, it sort of was, wasnt it? except…
it doesn’t end. the weeks, the months, the time passes easily. their relationship changes if only to get even closer. eventually, the 3rd years graduate, and then yuuji does too. satoru becomes a teacher before yuuji gets brats of his own.
they move in. get cats together. one bedroom and a good kitchen. 10 years pass- -and geto suguru comes back, half-alive and welcomed into jujutsu society’s arms.
