2. Derinkuyu underground city, Turkey Extending to a depth of approximately 85 meters, it is large enough to have once sheltered up to 20,000 people, along with their livestock and food stores. What could have pushed humans to build something like this thousands of years ago?
3. Castle of Vezio, Italy The gardens of this castle overlooking Lake Como are adorned with chalk sculptures created by tourists each summer, which last until the snow wipes them. The tradition ties to a legend of Queen Theodelinda, whose spirit is said to roam the castle.
4. The Cave of the Crystals is a cave connected to the Naica Mine at a depth of 300 metres (980 ft), in Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico. These are some of the largest natural crystals ever found on Earth.
5. Stone of the Pregnant Woman, Baalbek, Lebanon Also known as the First Monolith, it is one of the largest stones ever quarried in human history. The block weighs approximately 1,000 tonnes and measures between 20.31 and 20.76 meters in length.
6. Lion Rock, Sri Lanka This rock fortress, dating to the 5th century AD, is located near the town of Dambulla. It features palaces, an irrigation system, and intricate water gardens, making it one of the finest examples of ancient urban planning.
