AIBY has 47 active apps on App Store now. Their 2 top apps “ChatOn AI - Chat Bot Assistant” , a ChatGPT wrapper and InPulse - Heart Rate Monitor brings in more than half of the revenue. (2/15)

Most of the app studios we analyzed have only 4-5 apps surpassing $100K in revenue. However, AIBY stands out with 11. Achieving this level of success across multiple non-gaming apps in different niches is almost unheard of. (3/15)

ChatOn app strategically include words like AI, Chat, Chatbot & Assistant in their name. Not only this, AIBY also ranks in top 3 positions for 1000+ relevant keywords for most of their apps. We have gone through the app onboarding process for a few of these apps to understand whether they ask for any rating in the onboarding phase. For Themify, they ask for rating in the onboarding phase itself. Themify has 294K ratings. (7/15)

Onboarding process is almost similar in all the apps. First screen shows the credibility part by showing the number of ratings and reviews. Then a soft paywall followed by onboarding instructions. (8/15)

They have a strong network effect on App Store now. App store algorithm uses keywords to determine which apps are relevant for a search, but it sorts them in order of how many new ratings the apps have received in the last few days. That's right. Ratings. Not reviews. (9/15)

New Ratings every day leads to ranking top for keywords -> This ranking drives more downloads -> Increase in downloads leads to increase in ratings App Store ranking is heavily influenced by downloads and ratings. (10/15)

They are masters at paid ads as well. Currently they run ~4K ads on Google, 2k+ ads on Tiktok. Their Calorie counter app alone runs ~100 ads on FB now. (11/15)

They run ads like these. They seems to be repeating the same ads on Tiktok and FB. (12/15)

If you want to know their target audience, check for “EU Transparency” label in the ad. Platforms like FB/TikTok are required to disclose ad targeting in the EU. This gives you a clear picture of who they’re targeting (Age, Gender, Location). (13/15)

You can see that they are dominant in Paid Ads+Ratings+ASO. If you want to learn more about them, study everything about their latest apps - Vigen & OnFork - launched just 3 months ago. They likely apply best practices from their top-performing apps to grow these apps. (14/15)

If you are planning to compete with them in any of their app categories , it is better to start from Tiktok or any other social media and get app downloads. Start asking for review in onboarding phase itself and add the best rating mechanism to your app. Focus on ASO then. Now armed with Rating, ASO and a strong Tiktok play, you would be able to compete with them fairly. (15/15)
