NEW: Dr. Oz drops bombshells on the massive waste, fraud, and abuse bleeding Medicare and Medicaidâexposing a system thatâs losing billions while nobodyâs watching the books. âLet me give you some numbers, and Iâm going to keep you up tonight.â What followed was a cascade of shocking revelations about how brokers, bureaucrats, and bad actors are exploiting two of Americaâs biggest healthcare programsâwith ordinary taxpayers footing the bill. Oz laid it all out: brokers enrolling people without their knowledge, states using federal money to cover illegal immigrants, and patients being counted multiple times across different states. Then came the truth bombs: âLast year, we had 230,000 Americans who are on the Affordable Care Act, the Obamacare plans, who didnât know it! They found out when the IRS agents called up and said: âYou guys have this free program in your family, did you know you have it?ââ âBrokers had given them these programs, made money off the U.S. Governmentâthey had no idea it happened.â âThe state of California has taken tens of billions of dollars from the federal government providing âfree health insuranceâ for illegal immigrants in California.â âWe are going to get that money back!â âThere are programs like this that weâre witnessing day in and day out, where Medicaid patients are enrolled in multiple states and the federal government doesnât know about it.â âSo we pay every state for the same person, but weâre not getting our moneyâs worthâbut those people arenât getting their health either.â
Dr. Oz also torched the U.S. healthcare systemâexposing why itâs failing patients, wasting billions, and becoming a global embarrassment. Americans are paying more than anyone else, living shorter lives, and still getting worse care. Dr. Oz says that has to changeânow. "There's a lot of things we've got to do to make a difference, and that's why I was honored to take this position," he said. As the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Dr. Oz didnât sugarcoat it: Americaâs healthcare system is spiraling, and the numbers are devastating. âWe've got some challenges, which is why the CMS programs are so important,â he said. He pointed to Medicaid first. âThe health insurance of our country is challenged by the fact that Medicaid is the number one budget item for most states.â Then came the bigger picture: the cost of healthcare is outpacing everything else in the economy. âIt is challenged by the fact that our health economy, the amount of money we're spending on health care, is growing two times faster than the rest of the economy.â And what do Americans get for all that spending? âIn fact we're paying twice as much per American to get health care than ANY other country on the planet.â Even worse, he added, âour life expectancy has dropped! We're about five years shorter in life expectancy than our competing countries in Europe and the rest of the world.â Despite the mess, Oz said heâs not backing down. âSo with all of this going on, there's a lot of things we've got to do to make a difference, and that's why I was honored to take this position.â
