Everyone getting riled up over this is getting mad for the wrong reasons and thereby completely obfuscating the problem. This initiative isn’t some spooky Islamic attempt to ESTABLISH LE SHARIA LAW but a push to establish an ethnic enclave of Pakistanis. Go take a look at the bios for the East Plano Islamic Center. Texas isn’t getting a caliphate they are getting Dearborn Michigan but for subcontinental Muslims instead of Shia Lebanese. This is what’s going to happen, everyone will make a big fuss about Sharia Law and Governor Abbot will make some decree against it and the planners of the community will feign acquiescence and remove explicitly Islamic decrees from the city codes and you will all walk away feeling like you have made some great victory but the city will still become a little Bangladesh. And then the county will flip blue.

The sooner we become honest and frame this as an issue of subversive ethnic enclaves and not a nebulous war against Islam the sooner we can actually turn the demographics crisis around
