In response to the execution of unarmed civilians in Omdurman today, Hemedti’s advisor said “This is how we’ll operate moving forward.” Committing atrocities is the RSF’s DNA. But for senior advisors to condone & celebrate them suggests something deeper. +
That is the total failure of the international accountability regimes, potentially inspiring others to engage in similar actions for either retribution or the perpetration of atrocities.
