watched a talk on Necrobotics, which started by posing an insane question: would you let a dead spider, controlled by AI robotics, perform surgery on your eyeball? and then told us that this wasn’t actually a theoretical question at all.
I left with my head reeling: amazed at humanity’s capacity for creative innovation, a little grossed out by spiders, impressed by the sheer ballsiness of anyone actually pitching the idea, and excited about what comes next. The future is happening now and it’s cool (and icky)

@Bonecondor DARPA has been at it since 2006 with their Hybrid Insect Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (HI-MEMS) program I think mostly to create spy devices. Now there's a DIY kit you can just buy to create cyborg undead cockroach's and weekend arduino projects. It's all totally insane
