Seven different Indian military targets have been targeted by Pakistani forces early on Saturday morning. Most of them are in the Kashmir province, but also military assets have been stricken in the Jammu and Punjab regions. The attack follows Indian strikes through drones and

jets carried out against several civilian and military targets within the Pakistani territory since last Wednesday, but intensifying thereafter. The entire Line of Control in the Kashmir region is observing continuous shelling on both sides and over the night 11 people were

killed, hundreds of houses already damaged and thousands evacuated from the region due to bombardments. As of this morning, Indian and Pakistani policymakers showed rhetorical signs of de-escalation, with Pakistan's foreign minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, telling Islamabad "will

consider to stop here" and Indian military stating that "all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded to appropriately." Diplomacy is at work, with even the U.S. State Secretary Marco Rubio inviting parties to ""re-establish direct communication to avoid

miscalculation." Yet, there is no real path to dialogue ahead as aerial defence targets have been the most prominent on both sides, suggesting heavier bombardments could be on the table. Moreover, India denounced Pakistan for moving troops towards the shared border.

Because of India's surging role in the global oil and gas market as the major locomotive of demand and due to the constant energy inefficiencies and water interdependencies of Pakistan with India, a larger conflict could severely affect the energy geopolitics in the Indian Ocean.
