Wei Wuxian looks between his neighbor and brother, at a loss of what to do. "Ah, A-Cheng, we were about to have some cake! Perfect timing!" Wei Wuxian chirps, gesturing for his brother to sit at the table. Jiang Wanyin lifts an eyebrow. "A cake? For what?" "A-Yuan
is two months," Lan Wangji speaks up as he settles into his spot, still cradling A-Yuan protectively against him. A-Yuan makes a cooing sound. "So?" Jiang Wanyin looks to Wei Wuxian now. "We wanted to celebrate, A-Cheng! My radish is two months! Isn't that amazing?" Wei Wuxian
exclaims, eyes glittering in excitement. Jiang Wanyin continues to look confused. "A-jie didn't do this for A-ling. Is this normal?" Wei Wuxian suddenly looks embarrassed. Lan Wangji's eyes narrow at his neighbor's brother. "Well, no," Wei Wuxian flushes, looking
down at his hands. "I just thought it would be cute, y'know? I won't be celebrating every month he gets older it's just... two months feels like a big deal." Jiang Wanyin seems to realize his mistake, reeling in his frustrated look. "Yeah, that's true," he concedes
and Wei Wuxian relaxes, his smile returning. Lan Wangji focuses on A-Yuan to keep himself from glaring at this man that caused Wei Wuxian to be uncomfortable, even if for a moment. "I'll go get you a plate!" Wei Wuxian hurries to his kitchen, leaving the two alone
with A-Yuan. Jiang Wanyin glares at Lan Wangji again. "I would like to hold my nephew," he grits out, trying his best to be friendly. It only makes him look constipated. As much as Lan Wangji wants to refuse Jiang Wanyin's request, A-Yuan isn't his. He's actually
related to A-Yuan, and if he doesn't have him over to his uncle, then Wei Wuxian might think he's weird. Begrudgingly, Lan Wangji carefully passes A-Yuan along to Jiang Wanyin. Jiang Wanyin's face softens incredibly as he cradles his nephew in his arms. "Hello,
A-Yuan. Do you remember me?" A-Yuan gazes up at his uncle, staring at him before he belts out the loudest cry he can muster. "What the fu-" "Do not curse around A-Yuan," Lan Wangji quickly interrupts him. Jiang Wanyin glares at him, trying to soothe A-Yuan.
"What's wrong?! What happened?" Wei Wuxian runs back into the room with an extra plate and a drink for his brother. "I don't know! He just started crying!" Jiang Wanyin answers, failing at soothing his nephew. Wei Wuxian takes A-Yuan from him, whispering soothingly to him.
"Shh, it's okay, baobei. What's wrong? You hungry again?" He asks, bouncing A-Yuan in his arms. Almost immediately, A-Yuan cries calm as he relaxes against his mother's bosom. Jiang Wanyin frowns. "He was fine just a minute ago!" Wei Wuxian's brows crease, trying to
understand why his son would suddenly get so upset. "Lan Zhan, do you mind cutting the cake for me?" He asks his neighbor. "Not at all," Lan Wangji nods, cutting the small cake into equal slices. Jiang Wanyin stares at the two. Not understanding the dynamic between
the two of them. "Oh!" Wei Wuxian gasps as in realization. "I don't think he remembers you, A-Cheng!" "What?" Jiang Wanyin's eye twitches, hurt bleeding through. "Yeah, it's been almost a month since he's last seen you, and now he's a bit more aware of the people he's
around. Remembering faces and whatnot. He hasn't seen your face in a while, so he's not comfortable with you." Lan Wangji quietly eats his piece of cake, not wanting to remarks on the conversation. We'll, he sort of wants to remark on it but doesn't want to possibly
upset Jiang Wanyin. That could upset Wei Wuxian. "He didn't cry when /he/ held him!" Jiang Wanyin points at Lan Wangji, raising his voice. "Ah, well," this time when Wei Wuxian flushes, it's a different kind of embarrassment. "Well, I told you and a-jie that he's been
helping me out since we met. A-Yuan sees him almost every day! Right, Lan Zhan?" "Mn," Lan Wangji hums. The response does nothing to quell Jiang Wanyin's frustration. "I-I see," he clenches his teeth, shoving cake into his mouth to silence his response. Lan Wangji
has only heard about Wei Wuxian's brother in passing. Wei Wuxian mentioned having a brother and sister, but never went into detail about them. From the times he had mentioned them, Lan Wangji knows he misses them very much. "I should give you some time to spend with your
brother, Wei Ying," Lan Wangji says, dabbing his face clean. Wei Wuxian looks startled. "W-We haven't even opened the pretty gift you bought A-Yuan, Lan Zhan! You have to stay for at least that!" Agreeing to his neighbor's request, Wei Wuxian retrieves the gift.
Jiang Wanyin's face sours. "Okay, A-Yuan," he cradles A-Yuan against him, maneuvering with one hand to open the gift. He doesn't ask for help, looking determined to open it on his own. "Oh, Lan Zhan! This is so cute! Look, A-Cheng! Isn't this the cutest onesie you've
ever seen?" Wei Wuxian picks up the onsie, showing it off to his brother. It's a rabbit onesie in light blue, with a hood and ears on the head. "Lan Zhan, this is too cute!" He pulls out another outfit. Another onesie. This one is also a light blue, with clouds on it.
Rabbits either sleeping on the clouds or jumping from cloud to cloud. With this onesie, there's a separate hat with just clouds on it. The final thing in the box is a stuffed rabbit. A white rabbit. "Thank you so much, Hero-gege!" Wei Wuxian squeals in delight, eyes
shimmering with unshed tears. "It's so beautiful and cute! A-Yuan is going to look so cute in all of them!" "You're welcome, Wei Ying," Lan Wangji can't help but smile softly at his neighbor. Relief floods his body. Happy that Wei Wuxian liked the gifts. Jiang Wanyin
still looks very constipated as he looks between them. With the way his jaw is trembling, Lan Wangji knows he's itching to say something but is holding back. Wei Wuxian shows everything to A-Yuan, and he looks at his gifts with mild interest. Only waving his chubby
arms and legs in response. When Lan Wangji goes to leave, Wei Wuxian leaves A-Yuan with his brother as he walks his neighbor out. "Thank you again, Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian begins as they stand outside his apartment. "It means a lot to me. Indulging my silly requests."
"They're not silly, Wei Ying," Lan Wangji reassures him. "I think it's wonderful you want to celebrate A-Yuan as much possible. He's very much loved." Wei Wuxian beams a smile at him. "Careful, Lan Zhan! Your words are always too much for my fragile heart! You have to
be mindful of the things you say!" He teases, and Lan Wangji smiles warmly. "Mn. I'll do my best," he says, and Wei Wuxian laughs. It's the sweetest sound he's ever heard. Honey to his ears. His heart races. "Thank you for having me over. I had a lot of fun."
Wei Wuxian beams his megawatt smile, and it makes Lan Wangji's stomach somersault. "I'm glad! I know it's a bit weird to-" "It is not weird," Lan Wangji interrupts his neighbor, surprising himself. He never interrupts people. "It's perfectly normal to celebrate
your child in any way you see fit." His words make Wei Wuxian's eyes shine even brighter. "Thanks, Lan Zhan." "And I'm sorry about my brother," he adds on. "He's always grumpy and a bit rough around the edges, but he's really a good person! I promise!"
"I believe you," Lan Wangji says, meaning his words. Even if Wei Wuxian's brother was a good person, Lan Wangji has an inkling that they won't see eye to eye on some things. "Good! Well, I better get back to A-Yuan! Thank you again for coming and the gifts! I loved them!
See you later, Lan Zhan!" "See you later, Wei Ying." They both return to their own respective apartments. Once alone, Lan Wangji sighs. He hadn't really wanted to leave, but Wei Wuxian deserved to spend some time with his brother.
Instead of sulking about it, Lan Wangji does something he hasn't done in years. Walking into his study, he sits down at his desk and pulls out of a sheet of paper. It had been a long time since he's composed music, but lately, his feelings for Wei Wuxian were steadily growing
stronger. Developing feelings for someone he's known for less than a month was unheard of for him, but he knows that's what this is. Lan Wangji needs a way to convey his feelings without disrupting his relationship with Wei Wuxian and A-Yuan. Music was always
an outlet for him. A buzz from his pocket snaps him out of his thoughts, and he pulls out his phone. Messages from Wei Wuxian containing all the pictures he took prior to Jiang Wanyin's arrival. A smile tugs on his lips as he stares at the photos of the three of them.
Keeping his phone on and the picture open, he gets to work on composing a song. -------
Another full update done! I fear that I'm making Lan Wangji fall for wwx faster than wwx falling for him, but also, how could he not fall for wwx so quickly? 😂 it's not quite love yet but it's growing! I hope yall are enjoying the story! I'm having a fun time writing it!

Jiang Wanyin is visiting for four days. It wasn't planned, but Lan Wangji can tell from the way his neighbor types that he's happy. So with the extra help from his brother, Lan Wangji has no excuse to stop by and help. Or, so he thinks.
It's a typical day when he comes home from work and hears the commotion coming from Wei Wuxian's apartment. A-Yuan's crying is among the noises he hears. Not unusual. A-Yuan is known to cry loudly. It's the second person crying that alarms him.
