“Posting consistently” is the most overrated advice on YouTube 🧵
1. No “algorithm penalty” for posting less frequently. YouTube’s own analysis of 40,000 channels taking 8–60 day breaks found no consistent drop in viewership after a break.
In fact, 25% of creators who took a break saw their views grow by over 50% when they returned. In short, you won’t tank your channel by skipping an upload – focus on making the next video great.
2. Algorithm focuses on each video, not your upload schedule. “For the most part…the algorithm for Discovery is focused more on individual videos,” said Todd Beaupre, YouTube’s Director of Discovery.
One poor-performing upload won’t doom your channel if the next video hooks viewers. YouTube doesn’t give extra credit just for uploading daily. Each video rises or falls based on its own performance with the audience.
