(1/??) Alright, let's do this. Here's my analysis thread of all the new Silent Hill f stuff that dropped off during the State of Play held on June 4th, 2025. We're going to go over the new trailer, website details, & a couple outside things, dissecting & analyzing them best I can
(2/??) Before we get started, if want to read the last breakdown I did of the last trailer (& the trailer before that), can find them in this thread here. I'll try to clarify symbolism points I've made before again, but go more in-depth on some previously: https://x.com/AestheticGamer1/...
(3/??) So as was discussed last time, we play as Shimizu Hinako, a high schooler in the Japanese village of Ebisugaoka in the 1960s. The core motif of the game was to "Find the beauty in terror”, & the game's director, Al Yang, goes more into detail of the 4 core pillars of the
(5/??) suffering, deeply connected with the game's story & Japanese history & mythology. 4. A unique combat system for the series, made to be more visceral & challenging with a melee focus. The game has been made as a stand-alone story newcomers can enjoy, with small connections
(6/??) to the series past. They're adamant it very much fits into the world & lore of Silent Hill, that it can fit well into the series legacy for long-time fans with confidence. We have word from Konatsu Kato, who's the Japanese voice actress for Hinako (the Japanese dub is the
(7/??) original dub for Silent Hill f, though an English dub is confirmed & can play with either or), she talks about how she's worked on this game for a long time & happy people can soon finally see her performance, was a tough role, but she loves the character & relates to her
(8/??) on some level. Before dissecting into the trailer, we get some new character & monster profiles from the website. We get proper names & profiles for Hinako's group of friends. We have Iwai Shu, coming from a family of physicians & progressive for the era he comes from
(9/??) & believes in treating people as people regardless of gender, race, anything. He & Hinako have been best friends since childhood & call each other "partner". We have Nishida Rinko, friend of them both who's a hard working rule abider. She's a bit gossipy, & has a crush on
(10/??) Shu. Finally, we have Igarashi Sakuko, who comes from a family of Shrine duties, helps out with rituals & a bit of a head-in-the-clouds dreamer who tends to take things rather relaxed as they come. Having their names actually gives us some context for things said in the
(11/??) last trailer. The last trailer opened up with either Rinko or Sakuko apparently telling Shu that he was "lying" & that he "can't fool Hinako" since "Hinako is dead". which certainly is interesting. Also a moment from the last trailer we saw Hinako apparently in an
(12/??) Otherworld version of Rinko's room, evidenced by drawings signed by Rinko herself. Rinko seems to like drawing, she drew her crush Shu multiple times, but also seemed to draw Hinako a lot, but kept drawing her "wrong", scratching out Hinako's face, with the symbol for
(13/??) "Hinako" and "DIE" over & over again scrawled over them. Anyways, I'm sure this group of friends are all mentally healthy & TOTALLY not about to be put through the wringer with their bonds strained. Totally... But as said, we also get some monster bios from the website.
(15/??) Japanese, but it's also the Yokai, Ayakashi, with an extra "ka" added to it, the Ayakashi being a group of Yokai who appear above the surface of a body of water. Things like floating ghost lights, or drowned victims vengeful spirits, or threaten to drown people with their
(16/??) reflection. So it's the name of a group of Yokai attached to the water (or more accurately, the surface of water), but given an extra ka to make Ayakakashi which can also translate to having a hard time or life. But it's also a mixture of kakashi, which means scarecrow.
(17/??) My point being, whoever was naming the Scarecrow enemy Ayakakashi was having one fun time with it, as in Japanese it's literally word play for three different things that all seem applicable & with intent. Next-up, Kashimashi is a bit more straight forward but does have
(19/??) which might be notable for whatever this enemy means. The joke in the name being that Kashimashi has three different Japanese characters in it for "girl" or "woman". Next we have the Oi-omoi, which this one is a bit harder to place for me. Oi can me "Go" or "Listen",
(20/??) or "Hey", or "Come." it could be a sound the monster makes as it's a sorta' famous Japanese sound. The Omoi part can mean "Feelings", "Thoughts", "Heavy Burden". It could be read as nostalgia, but with the design of the monster I side towards thinking it might be playing
(21/??) into the idea that you're "burdened with memories", since its whole upper body is cluttered in doll parts, but this one might need a bit more context in game & dissection to get into what it means. Finally, we have the Ara-Abare, which first its design has interesting
(22/??) design with underwater stuff pressed into it, fleshy obviously. I think in the last trailer, the fleshy thing we saw growing turns into this thing. My theory, grows out of the fleshy pulsating flower fields. I think this enemy's name is by a fucking geek, let me explain.
(23/??) Abare in Japanese means to violently act or struggle, to be angry & have an outburst. But it's also a term used for fighting games to be at a negative frame advantage & do a risky maneuver. "Ara" means "Oh", and usually used in "Ara-Ara" to mean "Oh My" or "Oh Dear".
(24/??) I think it's literally named that to be a word play on all of that, the director likes fighting games & talked about his childhood love of Street Fighter before back when he direcred Resident Evil Resistance, so I feel he knows Abare is a fighting game term, & I think the
(25/??) intent was naming it as a play off "Ara-Ara", but with violence & struggling, sorta' like, "Oh Struggle~" in a mean playful way, how you're at a disadvantage to it, how it's violent & struggling. Anyways, FINALLY, with all that covered, let's get on to the trailer.
(26/??) We open up the trailer with a shot of Ebisugaoka, which reminded me of a shot from the last trailer so uploaded it too. It gives us a real idea both how small & isolated this town is, literally a quiet town surrounded by mountains, IE "Silent Hill" har har har.
(27/??) Hinako has come to visit Sakuko, who's hanging out on the 2nd floor of her house on a balcony. With them establishing Sakuko has her "head in the clouds" & "dreamy", I wonder if keeping her higher than our character & at a distance almost like she's not physically there
(28/??) or that there's a big distance between these two. It's emphasized more in this next shot, which gives this feeling of "distance" to me. Sakuko says how Hinako "doesn't come around here often", implying said distance, & assumes she must be headed somewhere rather than came
(29/??) to visit her is the implication. Hinako says she came because she "just needed to talk to someone". This next shot really emphasizes to me how Sakuko is looking down at Hinako, as she cheerily says, "I'll be there in a bit!". Hinako affirms & seems to take comfort in that
(30/??) but then as Hinako walks off she hears Saduko's voice unnaturally close, saying, "You Traitor", with a flash to inside somewhere at evening with blood sprinkled around and a looming shadow of what looks like three things resting on a table. My first thought was it might
(31/??) *Sakuko's voice -be her friends heads in boxes, due to the shape, three of them, for whatever reason my mind went there, but that's obviously a WILD jump for me to make, so moving on. Hinako stops at this, & turns to look back at Sakuko a little perturbed, & see's the
