1) The majority of them know this is political and hate the idea of the Marine Corps’ image being tarnished. Because of this, their command has likely held numerous briefings warning the Marines to be on their absolute best behavior. This isn’t a vacation.

2) While 29 Palms may suck as a duty station, it’s still home— and these Marines spend ENOUGH time deployed. They have friends and family they want to spend time with AT HOME. 60 days takes us through the 4th of July, when most Marines get an extended vacation. But not for 2/7

3) ALL DEPLOYMENTS SUCK. Unless you’re going to Australia or Hawaii, your deployments in the USMC are going to suck — BIG TIME. You gotta pack all your shit, get inspected, hold endless briefings with hurry-up-and-wait bullshit. Trust me. These dudes ain’t happy.

4) Yes — there are extremist elements in the USMC who’d love nothing more than to crack some liberal over the head with a baton. Their leadership knows who they are, and those Marines will be on a tight leash. There will be no “action” for those idiots.

When it’s all said and done, it will have been a complete waste of time that took these Marines away from their families — to be pawns in Trump and Stephen Miller’s little game. And in the end, Trump and the MAGA Republicans will have lost even more support amongst our military.
