This is a super-cool article looking at 33,000+ search warrant applications filed electronically in Utah to figure out how long it takes to review warrant applications, how often they are granted, and the like. https://harvardlawreview.org/p... #N

The database being electronic is key, as it has info such as how long the judges took to decide whether to issue the warrant. We haven't had that before.

Median time to review a state warrant application: About 3 minutes. That's about what I would expect. State warrant applications are usually pretty standardized and the affidavit is short.

But there's a lot of variation, as shown here.

Also interesting: Bay far biggest group of warrants were in DUI cases; I take it these were to get blood draws of alcohol content. Applications here are very similar; Defendant was arrested for drunk driving based on facts X, we want to get a blood draw.

Unsurprisingly, the DUI cases had the shortest review time, median 2 minutes.
