Talk of AI being "useful" makes me feel like there's a disconnect somewhere. First, AI can't help me with the questions I have because I'm trying to find out things that *aren't* known yet. Just ran through a paper I'm working on with it- it's like: "uh... I dunno." Right! 1/3
Second, I don't want shortcuts to the things that are already known. I *like* learning that stuff. I like meandering through texts and following footnotes to other texts. If I'm hiking, I don't want someone to offer me a lift. The pleasure of hiking's the point. 2/3
Third, I haven't been able to get LLMs to help me with meaningless time saving stuff that I don't want to do so far. When I've tried to use it, it can't do what I want and can't tell that it's not doing it. If others have more luck with this one, more power to you! 3/3
