Thread: The Story of a Betrayal So Deep, It Still Echoes in Ladakh - A story buried by Leftist historians and ignored by mainstream narratives. This is not just a diplomatic blunder. This was civilizational betrayal.
/ In 1950, the newly-formed People’s Republic of China invaded Tibet. Tibet was an independent nation for all practical purposes: Own currency Own flag Conducted foreign relations British India had treaties with it Controlled borders and army Yet Bharat did nothing.
/ China's PLA entered eastern Tibet in October 1950. The Tibetan army resisted with traditional weapons against modern guns. Within days, China seized Chamdo. Tibet sent appeals to the UN, to India, to the world. Only one country responded. Guess who? El Salvador.
/ Tibet appealed to Nehru. And Sardar Patel ji immediately sensed the danger. In Nov 1950, Patel ji wrote a now-famous letter to Nehru: "The Chinese Government has tried to delude us by professions of peaceful intentions." "Their actions indicate a desire to establish hegemony
/ Patel ji warned: Tibet's fall would bring China to India's doorstep, Bharat must modernize and secure borders, We must recognize Chinese expansionism, But Nehru ignored him. Instead, he pursued his utopian idea of Panchsheel and "Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai."
/ In 1954, India signed the Panchsheel Agreement with China. This was the final nail in the coffin for Tibet. Bharat: Formally recognized Tibet as part of China Abandoned its own historical rights Silenced pro-Tibet voices internally Why? To appease Mao.
/ Bharat had a diplomatic mission in Lhasa. It was downgraded to a Consulate. Maps were changed. Even postal stamps were altered to remove Tibet as a separate region. This was not just diplomacy, it was historical erasure. India's own Survey of India maps showed Tibet as an
/ Meanwhile, China began construction of a military highway (G219) through Aksai Chin, which was Indian territory. We only discovered this in 1957, after it was completed. Why didn’t we know? Because we had no presence in our own territory.
/ In 1959, after China crushed Tibetan uprisings, the 14th Dalai Lama,Tenzin Gyatso; escaped to Bharat. He was given asylum, but Nehru was reluctant. He feared upsetting China further. Indian media was restricted from covering the Tibetan genocide.
/ Estimates say over 1 million Tibetans died between 1950-1970 under Chinese occupation: Monasteries destroyed Cultural genocide Language erasure Nehru could have stopped this at the beginning, but chose silence.
/ Why did Nehru do this? He believed China would be a peaceful ally, He thought he could mediate between West and East, He dreamt of becoming the leader of the "Non-Aligned World" And worst: He distrusted Sardar Patel's "old school" warnings.
/ Sardar Patel ji died in December 1950. Shortly after his letter to Nehru. With him, died India’s strategic thinking. From there, Nehru had a free hand. Bharat became China’s cheerleader at Bandung Conference. Tibet was dead. Panchsheel became our suicide note.
/ By 1962, China was emboldened. It launched a full-scale war on India, the Sino-Indian War. India was unprepared, poorly equipped, and diplomatically isolated. Nehru’s famous cry: "My heart goes out to the people of Assam..." He knew we had lost.
/ Bharat lost: 3,000 soldiers in a month Thousands captured Strategic territories in Ladakh All because Nehru ignored every warning. Today, China sits on Aksai Chin, patrols near Arunachal Pradesh, and funds anti-India insurgencies in the Northeast. All of this became
/ Had India asserted its treaty rights in Tibet, created an international coalition, or even resisted diplomatically, Tibet might have survived. Instead, we handed over our buffer on a silver platter.

/ The Leftist ecosystem has whitewashed this betrayal for decades: NCERT books don’t mention the Tibetan genocide, Nehru is portrayed as a visionary peacemaker, Sardar Patel is barely given a footnote, In reality: Nehru weakened India’s position for decades, China rose in
/ We talk about Palestine. We talk about Ukraine. But we never say: FREE TIBET. Because saying that would mean admitting that Nehru's blunder wasn't just a mistake, it was a civilizational betrayal.
/ Dalai Lama still lives in exile. Tibetans are second-class citizens in their own land. Buddhist culture has been bulldozed by Communist regimes. And India still pretends that "border disputes" began in 2020.
/ What Nehru did wasn’t just a foreign policy error. It was: A spiritual betrayal A civilizational self-wound A political blunder that cost thousands of lives And yet, those who question this today are called "revisionists." But the only thing that needs revision... is our
/ Let us remember: Tibet was India’s natural ally. Nehru chose China instead. And Bharat is still bleeding from that choice. RT the first post and Follow @Maniyogini for more such Threads. Jai Hind Jai Bharat
