Nattokinase is the #1 supplement for cardiovascular health. It reduces plaque, dissolves clots, and lowers blood pressure. In trials, it reduced arterial plaque 36.6% (vs 11.5% for statins). Here's everything you should know: 🧵
In 1987, Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi at University of Chicago had a mission to find nature's most powerful clot-buster. He tested 173 different foods on artificial blood clots. One food dissolved clots in just 18 hours, faster than anything else he tried. That food? Natto.
Natto is made of fermented soybeans that smell like old socks (and taste worse). But during fermentation, Bacillus subtilis bacteria produce nattokinase, an enzyme that literally eats blood clots. It's one of the most powerful cardiovascular interventions: and it's natural!
What makes nattokinase (NK) so incredibly powerful? Unlike aspirin, it doesn't just prevent clots. NK actively dissolves existing ones. It breaks down fibrin (the protein "glue" holding clots together). Let's talk about its clinically proven benefits:
1) Cardiovascular protection In a 26-week clinical trial, people taking nattokinase had a 36.6% reduction in arterial plaque, vs only 11.5% on statin drugs. NK seems to scrub rust out of your pipes, making arteries wider and healthier.
2) Blood pressure results are equally impressive. Multiple human trials show nattokinase drops systolic pressure by 5.5-10.9 mmHg. That's equivalent to adding a low-dose blood pressure medication, but rather than getting a prescription you just eat some fermented beans.
3) Stroke prevention Since most strokes come from blocked vessels or brain clots, nattokinase's clot-dissolving mechanism offers protection. Japanese clinical reports show it helped prevent stroke progression in acute patients. Your brain gets better blood flow!
4) Deep vein thrombosis In a study of 153 vascular patients, nattokinase (100mg daily) improved DVT symptoms without causing new clots. Zero new cases of thrombosis occurred during follow-up. Japanese airline crews reportedly use it to prevent "economy class syndrome."
5) Possible longevity benefits Japanese regions with highest natto consumption have the lowest heart disease rates and longest lifespans. Okinawans live longer than anyone on Earth, and natto is a dietary staple. Not causal evidence, but worth something!
Most people mis-dose NK. Studies show that dosages below 3600 FU are ineffective. A dosage of 10,800 FU is the only one shown to reverse atherosclerosis. Additionally, these results stem from combining this dosage with 180 μg of vitamin K2.
Many NK companies don't actually contain the nattokinase enzyme! Without this enzyme, natto is just smelly beans.
I'm very bullish on NK helping people with heart issues. Companies like Toku (which I invested in) use the clinically effective dosage of 10,800 FU, and blend with 180μg of vitamin K2 and Beta Glucan to improve uptake. Check it out here - https://tokuhealth.com/

@jwmares Here’s everything you should know… If nattokinase actually is a “clot-buster” you run the risk of causing internal bleeding or brain hemorrhage. There should be randomized, placebo controlled double blinded trials for this supplement to ensure the benefits outweigh the risks!
@DrLizaMD that'd be great!
@jwmares I looked it up Curr. evidence doesnt support that NK dissolves established atherosclerotic plaques. NK is a potent fibrinolytic enzyme but it can't disassemble the complex matrix of mature plaque (heterogeneous mix: lipids, inflammatory cells, fibrous tissue, calcific deposits)
@Marco777Polo what did you see? ive done a lot of research here that supports this claim
@jwmares Natto with eggs >>>
@jwmares Hey Justin- can’t DM you but interested in discount code. Thanks!
@jwmares Where do you guys source the raw materials? Looks very interesting. Goodluck!
@jwmares Long natto
@jwmares Your thread is everybody's favorite! #TopUnroll https://threadreaderapp.com/th... 🙏🏼@TNMTechnologies for 🥇unroll
@jwmares Yummmm
@jwmares Take it daily. Heard it helps carry out the spike junk.
@jwmares I’ve enjoyed this brand for consuming it as food.
@jwmares Great post. Nattokinase is indeed a powerful enzyme for dissolving clots and cleaning the blood.... https://vitalitymagazine.com/a...
@jwmares I’ve been working on my ApoB Numbers have been 74-80 the past few years Only thing I changed recently was adding 12kiu natto daily and ran it for about 6 months 🤷♂️ ApoB : 59 Triglycerides: 41 mg/dl CRP : .32 mg/L LDL 68 mg/dl
@jwmares LOL, my wife loves Natto, or rotten beans as I call them. We just found a place in Boston that makes it fresh, but their shipping procedures leave a lot to be desired, so she is sticking with the frozen.
@jwmares Yes. Big into this since Covid. Even eating Natto!💪
@jwmares Copper is better for cardiovascular health, essential minerals first
@jwmares I dont think its healthy since nearly all soybeans are gen manipulated
@jwmares True!
