🧵 Thread: Why Most People Never Realize Their True Self – The Hidden Obstacles on the Path of “I AM” 🪞 From the Upanishads to the Kularnava Tantra, Sanatan Dharma reveals a map far deeper than psychology - this is the Path of Self-Realization. But few reach the Absolute. Why?
“I AM” - The First Door to Truth Self-realization begins not in temples or mantras but in Presence - the awareness that “I AM”. Before body, mind, name, or story… You are. But this sacred realization is buried under layers of illusion. Let’s uncover them 👇
Obstacle 1: False Identification (Dehābhimāna) You are not your body. You are not your thoughts. You are not even your personality. But we attach to the body-mind complex, like mistaking the reflection for the Sun. This is Avidya - ignorance of the Self.
Obstacle 2: Movement of the Mind Thought after thought… desire after desire… The restless mind constantly jumps between past and future, dragging awareness into fragmentation. Stillness is the gatekeeper of Self. This is why Yogis mastered Pratyahara & Dhyana.
Obstacle 3: Personality Projection Your Vyaktitva (Personality) is just a suit stitched by society. But you are not your emotions, roles, or achievements. The Sadhaka, says the Kularnava Tantra, must transcend this mask to taste the formless essence (Sara).
Obstacle 4: Ego & Doership (Ahamkara) “I am the doer. I achieved. I failed. I suffered.” This ego creates karma and binds the soul to the wheel of samsara. In reality: You are the witness. All actions occur in Prakriti - you are Purusha - untouched.
Obstacle 5: Misunderstanding Dharma धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः । Dharma protects those who protect Dharma. But Dharma is not just religion or rituals. It is the natural law that sustains truth, balance & evolution - inside and outside. True Dharma aligns you with your Self.
Definition of a Sādhaka (Spiritual Seeker) - Kularnava Tantra “He who gathers the essence (Sara), walks the path of Dharma, and restrains the active senses (Karanagrama) is a true Sādhaka.” Control of senses = clarity of Self.
Turiya & Turyatita – Beyond the Mind When awareness detaches from objects, dreams, and even deep sleep… you enter Turiya - the Fourth State. Beyond that lies Turyatita - Pure Awareness, untouched by time, form, or space. This is the doorway to the Absolute (Paramārtha).
Final Teaching from the Map of Self-Realization The journey is not linear. It's a spiral returning back to the I AM, shedding what you are not. From Personality → Presence → Awareness → Absolute You don’t become anything - you unbecome.
The World is Movement. The Self is Stillness. Dharma gives you the discipline. Sādhanā gives you the strength. Grace gives you the glimpse. Silence gives you the Self. 🔁 Retweet this thread if it touched your soul 💬 Share your reflection below.
