JVP raked in $11 million in FY ending 6/24, a massive spike in their annual revenue. Where did this money go? [thread]
Well, they actually only spent half of it, ending the year with $9.9 million in the bank!
They paid $100k+ each to ED Stefanie Fox and Managing Director Tallie Ben Daniel, $360k on travel and $350 on IT. The rest of the money was spent on "events," "local chapter organizing," and employee benefits.
They found room in the budget to send $5k to Iron Dome supporter Jamal Bowman.
As Gaza is starved to death by the USA/Israel, and 85% of the million-ish genocide survivors are on the brink of death, is it fair to ask why JVP isnt sending some of its $10 million in assets to the Sameer Project?
In October, JVP did an action at Wall Street, where they chanted "Stop profiting off genocide", but their own staff would not have jobs without the genocide. The most the org had ever made in a previous FY was $3.9 million, so the genocide has been quite good for business.
Which is maybe understandable if all that money is getting redistributed to genocide survivors rather than Israeli-American staff members who do what exactly?
I'm not a 501c3 accounting expert, but is there really no way these millions can be sent directly to people in Gaza?
As the false promises of liberalism and social democracy crumble, may the NGO organizing grift go down with the sinking ships.
The ouroborous of it all is that if $1.6 of their $5.2 million expenses are going back into administrative costs to raise more money, which even if raised, isn't going to Palestine. The result is that any crumbs of organizational militancy are necessarily evaporated.

@jews_say Thank you so much for taking the time to make this thread. We really appreciate you laying it out so clearly.
@Shepherds4Good no, thank you! Your principled work and writing has guided my politics, research, and convictions since I first heard you guys on a podcast a few years ago!
@jews_say A thread on Ifnotnow??🙏🏾
@Deathtozios69 I checked and they "only" have like half a million
@jews_say It's the Zionists playbook to sully pro Palestinian organisations. Im not buying this. What other agenda could they have?
@bombralorradem I've heard the Zionists also try to get people to be decolonial communists because it undermines principled Democratic socialist organizing focusing on higher wages for Americans
@jews_say They’re a charity that does political organizing. It is not abnormal for them to have these expenses.
@CaesarSalahD The expenses aren't the issue. The issue is $10 million of unspent money
@jews_say can this thread be shared on other social media platforms?
@dulcepuu Ya!
@jews_say why did you make this thread instead of working at a coffee shop and donating your wages to aid for Gaza? what percentage of your annual salary are you tithing? or wait — is perhaps the situation more nuanced and political organizing quite important? Whatever lets infight!
@anarchotwinkism Because it was just too impossible to do both. Writing this thread actually took up so much of my time that I had to quit my job and stop all the organizing I was doing. You're correct that JVP is the only antizionist organizing formation that has ever existed.
@jews_say could you plz provide the source documents (if possible)
@jews_say Other than outing JVP as a terror supporting organization, your thread is dumb🫏. Implying Jamaal Bowman is on the side of Israel because he believes they should be allowed to defend themselves with the Iron Dome - a purely defensive mechanism - is inhumane. He is vehemently
