2. A person should perform a bath (ghusl) on Friday, as stated in the hadith found in both Sahihs and other collections. It is best to do this shortly before going out for the prayer.

3. A person should beautify themselves by cleansing the body, clipping the nails, using the siwak, and removing impurities. They should also use perfume and wear their best clothes. [ Women should not wear perfume in public. This is specific to men]

4. Set out to the masjid early, on foot, walking in a calm and humble manner and intending ritual seclusion (itikaf) in the masjid as long as you’re inside the masjid.

5. Avoid stepping over people or forcing your way through them to reach a spot. However, if a clear opening is visible, it’s permitted to pass through to reach it. 6. One should not pass in front of a praying person.

7. Aim for the first row in the prayer, unless you notice something that gives you a valid excuse to stay back.

8. When the Imam comes out to ascend the pulpit, stop any voluntary prayers or dhikr. From that point on, listen attentively to the khuṭbah and respond to the adhān.

9. After the Jumuʿah prayer, one should pray voluntary rakʿahs: if he wishes, two prayer units, and if he wishes, four or six. 10. One should remain at the masjid until he performs the Asr prayer, and staying until sunset is even more excellent.

11. One should look for the honourable moment (Sāʿat al-Istijābah) of Friday with presence of heart and continuous remembrance. [The scholars have differed on the timing of this hour]

12. Send abundant prayers (salat) upon the Prophet ﷺ on this day and one should add seeking forgiveness to this, as it is recommended on this day.

13. Recite Surah al-Kahf, for it has been narrated that 'A'ishah reported the prophet ﷺ said: "Should I tell you about a chapter whose greatness fills what is between heaven and earth?-

He who writes it gets a similar reward and whoever reads it on Friday, his sins between that and the next Friday and three additional days are forgiven. If someone reads the five last verses of it when going to sleep, Allah awakens him at any part of the night he wishes."

They said: "Yes, O Allah's Messenger!" so he said: "Surah al-Kahf” 14. Give charity on Friday as much as you can afford, and you should do this outside the masjid. 15. You should dedicate Friday for the actions of the akhirah and not engage in worldly work.
