THIS APP IS CRUSHING IT Olive makes $150K/month by exposing what's really in your family's food, flagging seed oils, heavy metals, and artificial additives. The crazy part? it was launched less than 6 months ago Let´s break down their onboarding 🧵👇 1/19
How do you make a health app feel more friendly? You give it a soul. The first thing you see is Olive's cute mascot, animated in a very nice way. It's a strategic choice to make the experience feel personal 2/19
The first line of copy wants to hit you emotionally "We protect you and your family from hidden toxins." It's not about "scanning food." It's about safety, protection, and family. They sell the outcome, not the feature. 3/19
A simple wording change that makes all the difference. Instead of a generic "Next" button, Olive asks for a commitment to their family's well-being. 4/19
The questions are simple, relevant, and directly tied to the app's promise. "Who do YOU shop for?" "How often do YOU shop?" 5/19
Breaking down Olive's full onboarding in a single thread is impossible. There are so many small details from the copy to the UI that drive conversion. If you want to explore the entire flow yourself, you can find it (and thousands more) inside @screensdesign_ 6/19
Olive's "How did you hear about us?" screen can help optimize their ad spend. This data tells them which channels are driving installs. Pro tip: If you implement this, randomize the order of the options so that every user is going to see a different order 7/19
How to convince users they need your app in 5 seconds: show them this chart. It's a powerful visual that turns a vague concern into a concrete, data-backed problem. "But Olive is here to help you detox." They present the problem, then immediately offer the solution. 8/19
The personalization goes deeper. They ask about specific additives, dietary needs, and allergies. They also add a disclaimer: "Olive is not a substitute for medical advice." This manages expectations, adds a layer of professionalism, and makes users feel safer providing their
"Olive shows results other apps miss." The message is clear: other apps are incomplete. You might think you're eating clean, but you're missing the full picture. "On average, Olive users discover 14 hidden toxic ingredients..." It's a quantifiable result that makes the danger
They don't say "Your plan is ready." They say "Your custom interface is ready." "Interface" sounds like a sophisticated, personalized tool you control. "Plan" sounds like a generic diet you follow. 11/19
Social proof is everything. The rating screen is packed with testimonials from relatable users This "warm-up" makes the app feel like a trusted, community-approved solution before the iOS prompt even appears, dramatically increasing 5-star conversions. 12/19
Olive has a three-step paywall: First, they show you the product in action with a video. Then, they remove the fear of commitment with a reminder promise. Only then do they show you the price, full of social proof 13/19
Account registration is one of the biggest drop-off points in an onboarding funnel. So, Olive simply moved it to the end. 14/19
The entire onboarding feels like a storybook Every screen is designed to make you feel safe and supported. This cohesive design builds a strong brand identity and makes the user feel like they're in the hands of a high-quality, trustworthy app. 15/19
Looking at their ASO rankings with @tryastroapp from @matteo_spada we can see that their strength lies in owning brand-related searches. For wider, high-volume keywords, they're often outside the top 5. This suggests their ASO isn't the primary engine for discovery 16/19
Olive's static ads aren't ads; they're warnings. They use a "Trojan Horse" strategy, creating content that looks like an influencer's health infographic. 17/19
Olive’s video ad playbook is simple but powerful: Tap into a fear (confusing labels, health scares). Show the app as the effortless solution in context. Reinforce the emotional outcome (peace of mind). 18/19

@cormachayden_ Big fan of your app :) I sent you a dm :)
@Siron93 Impressive traction, but sustainable long-term growth hinges on accurate data and robust scientific evidence.. Food sensitivity is complex and nuance matters.. I'm curious about their verification process..
@Siron93 How do you know how much they’re making a month? Are these numbers published somewhere or are we just taking the founders word for it?

@Siron93 I’ve seen a lot of apps like these recently, and have used Yuka myself for years to find healthy alternatives… do these apps just make OpenAI calls or are they accessing some larger database do identify what’s really in foods??
@Siron93 Very nice
