Munshi Premchand learned Urdu from a Maulvi & was swayed by Qazaki’s Persian tales. Did these Muslim influences shape his stories? 🤔

"Sheikh Makmoor" (one of the stories): Shah Bamurad, a fallen king, hides in hills & crowns his son Masood to reclaim Mulk-e-Jannatnishan against the Imperial colonialism. Did he dream of a "secular nation" or an Islamic nation?

After 1900, the British decided to give Devnagari equal status to Nastaliq in North-Western Provinces and Oudh boosting Hindi’s readership, surpassing Urdu.

Sensing the popularity of Hindi and its negative impact on popularity of Urdu, he strategically created a blend of Hindi and Urdu — Hindustani. He also pushed Hindustani to be the national language. So was Hindi non - Hindustani?

In 1923, Premchand published Mandir and Masjid, a story showcasing a devout Muslim zamindar who embraces Hindu traditions, embodying ideals of harmony and justice.

This narrative unfolds against the backdrop of the horrid 1921 Moplah Riots, which had generated giant waves of extreme rage against radical Islam. Instead of squarely and fairly criticizing it, he chose to undermine the gravity of Islamic radicalism.

Set in the 1920s during the anti-Brahmin movements, "Moteramji Shastri" critiques Shastri, a cunning Brahmin who manipulates his religion, & education by aligning with the British for personal gain, embodying moral decay. Did he Bollywood by giving Hindu names to all villains?

In "Nabi ka Niti Nirvah," devout Muslim Nabi chooses love for his wife Zainab over joining a Jihad, embracing empathy over fanaticism. Does this depict love triumphing over fanaticism, contrary to common perceptions of such names?

In "Idgah", young Muslim orphan Hamid uses his three paise on Eid to buy tongs for his grandmother instead of toys, moving her to tears with his selflessness.

In "Kafan," Ghisu and Madhav neglect Budhiya as she dies in childbirth. Begging for shroud money, they spend it on food and alcohol instead. Unlike "Idgah"’s hope and high moral character of Muslims, Kafan is a dark tale of Hindus' moral decay.

In the 1st meeting of the Progressive Writers’ Association, attended by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ismat Chughtai, & others. Premchand stated in his speech that Buddha, Christ, & Mohammad failed to lay the foundations of equality. Was the Hindu teaching of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam forgotten?

Every author possesses two key aspects. First, the beauty of language and the art of storytelling. Second, the message conveyed through their writings. When an author excels in the first aspect, their influence over readers becomes profound.

So, when the nation widely acknowledges Munshi Premchand as a masterful storyteller, have we completely overlooked the harmful propaganda he was promoting?

@Ayudhika1310 His stories, cloaked in the guise of "reform," are anything but that. They’re a most cunning way to turn young minds into Hindu-hating, communist, Islamist ideologues— producing sickulars we see so many around today, many I'm sure are products of his deceptive "stories".

@saccidanand Absolutely 💯

@Ayudhika1310 This is shocking. What an expose 👏👏

@aniadhikaryy 🙏🏽🙏🏽

@Ayudhika1310 Shocking expose 🔥

@Namami_Bharatam 🙏🏽😊

@Ayudhika1310 Have you ever read his story "jihad"? Perhaps no...

@ManBotanical Have you read his speech before his death? Perhaps no...

@Ayudhika1310 The fact that Munshi Premchand and his books were promoted in India by the Education Ministry before and after 1947, and made part of the school curriculum means that he was anti Hindu, otherwise @INCIndia would never have promoted his writings. It’s as simple as that.

@Sonalkapa @INCIndia Spot on! 🎯🎯

@Ayudhika1310 Pls stop demeaning our legend. Premchand is Premchand

@KeshariNandan Ouch! You seem to be hurt.

@Ayudhika1310 Much needed scrutiny. Many a hero of the past were busy baking bread for self.

@agniriv Thank you 🙏🏽😊

@Ayudhika1310 My children resent having to read Munshi Premchand's किस्से as part of their ICSE Hindi classes, because the stories are outdated, & farcical.

@VeeraBallal Despite that, they continue in school textbooks

@Ayudhika1310 His stories are related to the period of 1925 to 1975-80. Today's children will not be able to relate to Halku, Jumman ki Khala, or Bhagjogini....

@Sharmmp 1. He died in 1936. How will he understand what happened later? 2. You must have forgotten Mopla riots, Kohat riots, etc. These riots are of his times.
